This thrills me for so many reasons. Not the least of which is that my ex-roommate / BFF just got her BA in linguistics--so I actually know the difference between syntax and phonology, even if I couldn't identify an alveolar fricative with a gun to my head. All the jargon just sounds comfortingly familiar; all it's missing is a rant about Noam Chomsky, who is, from what I gather, apparently somebody important but very, very wrong. But aside from that, so much of this is just, yes, academics. I've met so many professors and grad students like Ray--they're not bad people, they're just, um, preoccupied. Like Ray would be.

I'm new around these parts, and you both seem awesome. Mind if I friend?
