Had a doctor's appointment today with the ears, nose and throat doctor, checking in before the surgery. It's Tuesday; I'll go to the hospital, they'll put me under, fiddle around in my nose and throat for a while, then send me back home once I'm all alert and ready. A couple days of a sore throat, congestion for a month -- but then, I shall be able to breathe properly through my nose for the first time in my life! Oh, joy!

Anyway. It's a perfectly straightforward thing, and not a big deal at all, but I'm kinda nervous anyway. I haven't even been in the hospital since I was two or so, I think. And surgery! And anesthesia! Weird stuff, man.

I also seem to have this bizarre and completely unrealistic expecation that I'm going to end up writing during next week's prolonged period of "lying around the house recuperating and feeling sorry for myself". Ha! I repeat: ha!

Lately the only stories I seem to manage to finish are those inspired by and promised to specific people. Apparently I have no drive of my own anymore, and must force others to poke me for me to work.

+ Sports Night story for Jessica (by end of the year)
+ River-and-Mal Firefly story for Molly (who knows?)

Eeeeeeee! I don't even mind that COMPLETELY open-ended deadline, as the mere thought of Mal/River from you is gonna leave me sailing for at least a few months.
