final note

I remembered the other thing I wanted to mention about the due South episodes I watched last night -- which is basically that, without fail, every single time I watch seasons one or two I am completely taken aback by my love for Ray Vecchio. Seriously, I'm always aware that I dig him, but I always forget just how much until the next time I watch his episodes. I think this is connected to the fact that I like on the show about twenty times more than I tend to in fic.

Also, the list of TV shows and movie now permanently tainted by "Dude, you know, that chick was on due South!" by me now has expanded to include The Matrix, along with SportsNight, Ben Stiller movies, Providence, CSI:NY, and Angel: the Series.

Oddly enough, with male guest stars it's pretty much still limited to The Red Green Show (see: "North," "Asylum," "Pizza and Promises," and every single episode Bob Fraser is in, among others).

"Pizza and Promises" has Scott Hope from Buffy! :)

*giggles* You know, I *think* I would recognize Scott Hope, but I'm really not sure. He's kind of personality-free, you know?

Meanwhile, David Marciano (Vecchio) was on NCIS last night. Which I don't watch. But which I *was* watching just as his scene began. *g*

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-02-08 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've ever seen David Marciano in anything else at all. He does not exist for me outside of Ray Vecchio.

[identity profile] raveninthewind.livejournal.com 2005-02-07 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I like him better in canon, too. I think it's because not only is he rather a caricature in some dS fanfic, but also I am not pressured into seeing him in a shippy way in viewing the show, so I can appreciate his Vecchio-ness untainted by thoughts of whether I like a certain behavior or trait in a romance story.

How about that Ryan Phillipe Dangerous Liaisons "reworking"?

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-02-08 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I actually have only seen the very beginning of Gift of the Wheelman, because the tape I had and my VCR hated each other with a vengeance. But I think Ryan Phillipe is stuck being Mr. Reese Witherspoon in my head, anyway.

Who was in Sports Night? I can't remember.

Teri Polo (Rebecca Wells on SN) was in They Eat Horses, Don't They, as the main chick.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-02-07 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Teri Polo = chick from They Eat Horses, Don't They = chicks from the Meet the Parents movie = Dan Rydell's Rebecca.

=chick from Aspen Extreme ...

I have never seen Aspen Extreme, either. Clearly I am very undercultured. *g*

omfg, he's a baby in it. It's a beautiful thing.

David Marciano was also in the CSI:NY pilot. As a garbage man or something. I was all, "You're busted, Victoria! Muahahah!"

Okay, this comment made me burst into giggles.

If you ever watch Stargate SG-1, both Stella (in a season 4 episode) and Maggie (in season seven) show up there.

And Jessica Steen - Maggie - is a recurring character on NCIS, which goes back to [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth's comment.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-02-08 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
I have never seen NCIS, though. (I've never seen CSI:NY either, of course, but Victoria was in the commericials for that.)

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-02-08 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah? I have never actually seen Stargate. Like, ever.

It has a really strong friendship between the two lead actors (as pictured in my icon -- Jack's on the left, Daniel on the right in glasses). Very reminiscent of Fraser/Kowalski, including sparky arguments. It's in the eighth season now, just got renewed for ninth. Wonderful and slashy. Not a particularly daring show, but loads of fun.

Did you ever see the movie? With Kurt Russell and James Spader? Daniel saves Jack from suicide and then they are bonded. Also, Daniel gets married, but he didn't mean to. Falls in love with her later, though.

Yeah, and the chickie who shot Fraser's hat was a member of the NID who later dies valiently on a planet she revisits in order to fix the planetary forcefield she and her cohorts broke the first time around... Henry Gibson played the dim-witted ruler of the planet.

Oh, God, you're right! I thought that she looked familiar -- she was in The Sentinel, Season Five, the episode between Menace and... *cough*

...you know. The Thing With Daniel and the glowy octopus lady.

[identity profile] jenboo.livejournal.com 2005-02-08 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, but if you consider Pizza and Promises then you have to include Queer as FolkUS in your list of tainted shows. Fab Fillipo played the pizza delivery guy in the DS ep and he was Justin's violin playing boyfriend in QAF US.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-02-08 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
*grins* Dude, another show I haven't seen! I can only have taintedness for stuff I'm familiar with. I need the opporunity to go "ooh! dS person!"

[identity profile] teenygozer.livejournal.com 2005-02-08 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I always maintain that the women of DS have done far better than the men have in terms of showing up in various movies and successful tv shows, though I do have my fingers crossed that CKR will eventually become a running character on Battlestar Galactica... after all, he *is* one of the few human-model Cylons there are!

Have you seen PG as a clueless yuppie on the Red Green Show? He's rather adorably funny. I love his deer-in-the-headlights look and he gets to use it a lot when Red tears down his yuppie pretensions.

Also, the list of TV shows and movie now permanently tainted by "Dude, you know, that chick was on due South!"

I may be wrong, but the annoying-getting-married-and-thinking-Fraser-was-stalking-her-woman in (episode I can't remember the name of) was annoying-assistant-woman in Ally McBeal. I think.

And the bar owner in Coyote Ugly was Mackenzie King (mark 2) in episode-where-Fraser-nearly-gets-evicted.

If, at any point, you feel like writing *decent* *realistic* *believable* RayV/Fraser slash (where RayV is neither 'always been gay' nor 'in total Catholic hard-man denial') I would a) be very happy indeed, and b) be inclined to send you British chocolate or other foreign delicacies.
