journalist tip: random facts about nazis /= good lead

Here is what The Oregonian had to say about the Serenity screenings this weekend:

"SERENITY" BENEFIT -- Members of the paramilitary branch of the Nazi party were known as "brownshirts." Fans of the TV series "Firefly" and its big-screen offshoot "Serenity" are known as "browncoats." More proof of their differences can be found in the fact that the Portland branch of the browncoats have organized a benefit screening of "Serenity" to benefit Equality Now, an organization which seeks to end violence and discrimination against women and a favored cause of "Firefly" creator Joss Whedon. The brownshirts would never have approved.

I ... don't have much to say, other than that's amazingly retarded.

I might be going home tonight instead of tomorrow, yay! I will be able to download last week's Deadwood. Also play lots of Sim 2 before I go off to classes, since I am borrowing my sister's cd for the summer while she's away. Woot, pretend people!

I was just at the SGA website to check what day the premiere was, because I couldn't remember, and I checked out the FAQs. This one cracks me up:

Q: Why do the aliens speak English?
A: Practical reasons that come with television production. The time constraints of an hour-long episode mean that it would become a major hindrance to the story each week if the team had to spend the first 10 minutes of each episode learning to communicate with a new species.

Man, dude, you could at least PRETEND that you have some kind of in-story justification for your plot holes, you know? It's not like it has to be good!

The episode of season one NCIS I watched last night had Jessica Steen in it. Fraser's baby sister really gets around!

Man, that is awful! Have these guys really never ever watched a single episode of any other sci-fi show in their lives? I can't believe the Stargate shows have 11 completed production seasons between them and yet no one has ever thought to solve this problem. Guys, I have two words for you: "universal translator." Just add them to "The stargates have a built-in" and you're all set!

Dear Erica.

Please continue to watch NCIS. It only gets better. Season 3 is on FIRE, yo.

If you watch, I promise to corral a flourishing fandom that will be here when you emerge, and we can pimp to the rest of SGA/fandom at large.

NCIS deserves more!! Won't you write me fic? Tony/Gibbs? Abby/anyone? Come on, you know you want to.

Love,
Cows

At least Dr Who had the "Oh, it's a Time Lord gift I let you share" justification! Jeez, people, at least TRY!

Jigga-WHAT?

Firefly fans are good! Unlike Nazis! News at 11!

They teach you that in journalism school. Whenever possible, drop a random-ass reference to Nazis in entertainment articles and/or reviews. THE KIDS EAT IT UP!

I kind of love that about the SG creative team. Their unapologetic hack-ness.

Anyway it matters not because TORRI IS HOT.
