is there in truth no beauty, tholian web

Hey, look, more TOS episode reactions.

Is There In Truth No Beauty -- man, you guys, for the first half of this episode I was just depressed by the sexism. Most of the time I can just let it go with TOS and occasionally it's even almost lolzy, but here ... yeah, just depressing. The second half made up for it a tiny bit, though, because I have a new favorite fight scene EVER in the series. Spock's POV camera with the funny lens in! It was pretty glorious.

So basically the entire plot of The Tholian Web doesn't really make any sense unless you take as a given that Spock totally, completely, utterly loves Jim Kirk. I don't care whether it's a platonic love or not, but there's no way it's not all consuming. Oh gosh. (Okay, technically the plot doesn't make sense anyway, but -- you know what I mean.)

The scene with Jim's filmed message for Spock and Bones, omg.

Bones: "It does hurt, doesn't it?"
Spock: long pause, then-- "What would you have me say?"

Also, like, Bones is SO ONTO Spock it's hilarious. Have you seen "Requiem for Methuselah" yet? Because seriously. Bones knows.

Bones is SO MEAN TO HIM. HELLO HIS JIM JUST DIED, OKAY, BACK THE FUCK OFF FOR A MINUTE >:((((

I haven't seen Requiem for Methuselah yet! Though I'm pretty much going through whatever I haven't seen of season 3 now, so it shouldn't be too long.

Is that the one where Spock is sitting in the captain's chair and Bones like, spins him around angrily? ;__; I love when Kirk is gone for whatever reason and Spock's in charge and he and Bones just bitch at each other the whole time.

The end of "Requiem for Methuselah" is like the most ridiculous thing. Make sure you let me know when you see it!

Spock and McCoy just, like, totally fall apart without Kirk there with them, it's fabulous. And yes, this was the spinning around angrily!

I will make sure to keep you updated!
