mmm, bacon

Packaging on the Safeway bacon I cooked tonight:

Canadians have long been respected for their unique institutions -- the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (they always get their man!), hockey (most of the great players are from Canada), maple syrup (experts acknowledge, it's the best in the world) and bacon. This tasty meat is hand-trimmed then slowly smoked over northern maple. We believe you will recognize the truly distinctive flavor of this premium quality product -- it's what bacon is all about.

See, Dira? It makes *sense*! If you squint a whole lot! Um.

You're really killing my respect for you.

You know, on the one hand, I'm tempted to say that's fair, but on the other -- dude, when was this mysterious time this respect was gained? I've pretty much *always* been like this.

maple syrup (experts acknowledge, it's the best in the world)

Like hell they do. As a Vermonter I must point out that VERMONT is the maple syrup capital of the world and Vermont maple syrup is generally recognized as the gold standard.

One of the many reasons I tend not to look to store brand food packaging for my facts.

I was gonna say... "I bet the people in Vermont would have something to say about the syrup!"

Mmmmm, maple syrup.

If I squint really hard, my eyes are sort of closed, and I can't read the screen. At which point, yep, everything you say makes perfect sense.

*smooches*

Dude, I can totally work with that!

I was thinking about you as I was typing it up! Also about that "Canadian-style bread" I bought once and read you the schpiel for. Except now I can't remember what it said, except that it was supposed to be less crappy than American bread.
