desperate housewives

[livejournal.com profile] fox1013 has convinced me I need to see Desperate Housewives or else, so I started getting the dvds from Netflix earlier this week.

Impressions, based on the first eight episodes:

+ Bree is basically the best thing EVER. <3<3<3<3<3

+ Felicity Huffman, I love you. I love you a lot. I probably wouldn't care about your storylines if any other actress was doing it, but as it is? LOVE.

+ I started out just really bored with Gabrielle's storylines, but somewhere on disc two it switched over to me wanting to stab her in the face all the time. It's an interesting change!

+ I don't really care about Susan one way or the other, but wow. She really is too stupid to live, isn't she? I'm surprised she remembers to keep breathing.

+ Jim Ellison guest starring on a show is ALWAYS funny.

+ Brenda Strong should only be famous for one thing, because as it is I can't deside whether to spend my time going "EPHRAM'S MOMMY!" or "SALLY SASSER!" every time she speaks.

I've never seen DH, but it cracks my shit up that both of Andy Brown's ex-love interests are on the show, AND that Brenda Strong dies in the first episode *again* (or so I hear, anyway). Oh, TV.

What's really funny is not only is it both of Andy Brown's love interests, it's both of Casey McCall (from Sports Night)'s love interests, too! It's fannish OVERLOAD, even without the Sentinel getting involved!

Ahahahaha seriously? that's *awesome.*

Out of the three leads on Sports Night, Felicity Huffman went to Desperate Housewives and got all badass and successful, and Peter Krause went to HBO and Six Feet Under nad got all sexass and famous, and Josh Charles, the hottest of them all? NOTHIN'. He had a part in the crappy SWAT movie, and that's about it. *sigh*

Jim Ellison guest starring on a show is ALWAYS funny.

omg - this is SO TRUE!

*random drunken snugs*

Like on Firefly! When he was being all badass! And i was like "HEEEEE! Jim Ellison, don't you know setting people on fire is not very nice?"

I've been tempted to watch this show, just for Jim. That's how big of a problem I have.

Heee. It's not that weird. Half of fandom seems to be sitting through much worse things for glimpses of people. Witness CKR or Michael Rosenbaum, for instance.

[identity profile] timian.livejournal.com 2005-10-08 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
See, so far I've been lucky. The only things I've seen CKR in are due South, HCL and WW -- all fantastic. But I hear the rest of the pie isn't as palatable. I also hear he dies a lot. And early.

I feel for MR fans though. Ow. Ow.

Twitch City and Last Night are also well worth watching. After that you start to get to things like watching bad Lifetime original series or boring network dramas and crappy movies for his two minutes.

AND YOU LOVE ME FOR IT.

BREEEEEEEEEEE!

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-10-08 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
What DON'T I love you for, bitch?

BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

[identity profile] fox1013.livejournal.com 2005-10-08 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. I'm sure there's some stuff. You probably don't love me for Due South stuff. Or for ALL the monkeys in the world. I think I just get credit for most of them. Which is tragic, but is still the way the universe works.

In conclusion, BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Jim Ellison guest starring on a show is ALWAYS funny.

And no matter what show it is, or in what context, I am always taken strongly aback at the sight of him kissing someone who is Not Blair.

Ah, the infinite power of fandom brainwashing. The CIA WISHES it had our skillz during the Cold War.
