seriously: awesome

Three thoughts I had this evening that are completely and utterly NOT original in any way:

1) Wow, The Sting is a really freaking awesome movie.

2) Young Paul Newman was really hot.

3) Young Robert Redford was really hot, and the resemblance to Brad Pitt can be uncanny.

And then after my sister and I finished watching The Sting, we moved on to tonight's episode of Big Brother 8. Oh, yeaaaaaah. Nothing but CLASS in this joint!

Today I have watched America's Got Talent and The Singing Bee. We're real classy over here in NoPo as well.

Butch Cassidy is amazing -- it's been way too long since I watched it, too. Hmmm.

You ever seen Paul Newman in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof w/ Elizabeth Taylor? *fans self*

you beat me to that comment. they are so unbelievably hot together that i don't even know how to explain it :)

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
No, but i can imagine. Wow.

[identity profile] svilleficrecs.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'd only ever known him as "old paul newman" which, okay, hot for an old guy, but then I saw that and was like... *jaw drops*

Seriously, that movie showed me WHY Newman and Taylor were Movie Stars.

Congratulations of seeing one of the best "buddy" movies ever made hon! The chemistry between Newman and Redford is just smoking hot. Paul Newman was the shit in his time fer shure. Check out "Cool Hand Luke" to see him at his prime as an actor.

Everything single time I see young Paul Newman I am shocked yet again by just how hot he was. It's ridiculous.

with you all the way! and, given the complex insights of your post, i think it's clear that you must read this now (if'n you haven't already): http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/30/theburied.html

I watched The Sting quite recently, too, as I have a friend who is trying to get me into the (mini)fandom. I couldn't get over the Brad Pitt resemblance either.

Also, gosh, but they're in love.

I stick my vote of uncanny! Although I suppose technically, it would be more like maybe Brad Pitt sometimes looks like a young Robert Redford? But I am young and must stick to my familiar references.

I KNOW. But I admittedly would shag Newman first (my mother walked in and snickered at seeing my jaw drop when i first watched it, and told me she had first dibs). And the end is so, so completely awesome.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
At the end I was like "OH MY GOD IF THIS TWIST IS WHAT I THINK IT IS IT WILL BE SO AWESOME I CAN'T STAND IT." And then it *was*!

Ha, I had this exact revelation a couple of weeks ago. :) The best approach is to watch Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid and then The Sting (so as to end on the happiest note), because it's double the buddy-ness, the period-costume-hotness, the sneaky humor, the awe-inspiring acting, etc. Also, they basically swap character types, so you don't have to pick between the thoughtful/quiet one and the reckless/charming one. It's perfect. :D

I'll agree on the Brad Pitt resemblance, but I saw the movie right after a bunch of Magnificent Seven episodes, and thus spent the whole movie being more weirded out by how much Eric Close (http://l.yimg.com/img.tv.yahoo.com/tv/us/img/site/28/54/0000002854_20060919194532.jpg) looks Robert Redford, especially with all that hat-wearing.

Have you read The Buried Treasure Racket (http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/30/theburied.html)? It's an amazing follow-up to the movie, and tons of fun in its own right. I highly recommend reading it while the actors' hot selves are fresh in your mind. :)

I haven't read the story yet, but someone else recced it, too, so I have it all bookmarked.

Also, they basically swap character types, so you don't have to pick between the thoughtful/quiet one and the reckless/charming one. It's perfect. :D

Thank goodness! Because how can you choose?
