yay movies

[livejournal.com profile] speshope and I saw The History Boys as the Sunday matinee at the town's arthouse theater. Wow, was that enjoyable. Seriously, I have a big giant crush on the entire movie. It's funny, and bittersweet, and just excellent. I know somebody on my friends list has been talking about this lately, but I don't remember who. Dear fandom, please all get on this RIGHT NOW. If you wanted to write fic, I would NOT MIND that either. (Man, it's too bad yuletide is a year away now. Heh.)

Also, oh my gosh, guys, those two scenes with Dakin and Irwin, first outside talking about how history is making moves, and then in the classroom at the end, where they make the date? God. I cannot remember the last time I watched scenes that managed to be that hot when, you know, nothing *happened*.

Also also, the ending sekritly makes me sad. I don't CARE about being realistic and honest! I want Posner to be gloriously happy and have a nice boyfriend to go home to! Sniff.

(it might have been me talking about it. i kind of haven't been able to shut up :) )

Dude, my middle two classes? Both in Esslinger 112. Three hours of Esslinger 112. It's nice, because they're the two classes that I only have ten minutes between, so at least I won't have to haul ass? But dude. I hate that building and that's a lot of windowless classroom with vibrating floor.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2007-01-08 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh. BAD building. At least you can maybe go outside and get some air between classes?

I'm still annoyed I have another class in Gerlinger, actually. Man, that place sucks.

All the buildings ending with -ger kind of suck.

[livejournal.com profile] foreverdirt wrote this (http://yuletidetreasure.org/archive/27/thelongedfor.html) for YT. It made me giggle and a then be a bit sad, although it looks like I will not get to see the movie until video (stupid Springs).

Dakin + Irwin scenes = so fucking hot adfljksldf. Cute English boys studying history and falling in love, with each other, in stripy ties. SO GREAT.

The only tiny problem I had with the movie was the vague implication that being gay means you'll end up closeted, bookish, and alone. Couldn't ONE of them have had a happy ending with a boyfriend and kisses? Posner, especially!

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2007-01-08 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
See, but I thought there was also the implication that EVERYBODY ends up alone and unhappy and stuck in drab meaningless lives, you know? Which ... uh, hi, I forgot you were literature there for a minute, movie/play. Thanks for reminding me.

Okay, so glad I called in Sick today; I'm gonna go see this this afternoon now. Wheee!!!!

Missed it. :( went for textbooks. Got back late.

I've read all three stories at Yuletide and am now bereft of History Boys fic. There's a community [livejournal.com profile] history_boys, but it's not fic-specific, so you're just as likely to get questions about trailers, reports of cast sightings (Frances de la Tour is SUPER NICE, yo!), or uploaded files of the soundtrack as you get any actual fic.
