nagbuyaka iti pallot iti balay?

There is something about working on finals in the middle of the night that calls for COOKIES.

Unfortunately, there are no cookies in my house.

(That was a very anticlimactic story.)

In the new Pride & Prejudice movie, the scene at the end with Elizabeth and Mr. Bennet about her marrying Darcy read really weird me. Like, uncomfortable? And kind of ... incest-y, in a really odd way? Except then it made me think less about Elizabeth and Mr. Bennet than of really bizarre and wrong Keira Knightley and Donald Sutherland RPF. SO THERE WAS THAT.

Hi, my head is a scary place, and if it weren't 1 in the morning or if I had cookies, I probably wouldn't have shared. Don't you wish I had cookies now?

My AIM wimped out during Grey's tonight, so I missed h8r-chat. What the hell, yo? I only need you one hour a week! That's it! It was SERIOUSLY WEAK.

The episode was still great, though. IZZIE! I keep thinking I can't love her more? And, uh, then I do! Also, I think that ending is pretty much untoppable, because it was the BEST EVER.

Also, Sandra Oh is still super smoking hot.

DUDE. I have a Donald Sutherland RPS-lending story.

When he was filming Animal House with all the college-age SNL/National Lampoon kids? He had that scene where he and Karen Allen's character are supposed to have slept together, and they come out in just T-shirts and there's a few ass shots. Which was not originally in the script, so at first Karen Allen was all "no, no way, this wasn't in there originally and it's a cheap joke, I'm not doing it, I didn't sign up for it," etc. etc. etc. Until Donald Sutherland said "Hey, I'll do it if you do it!" and (so the story goes) Karen Allen started laughing very hard and then agreed.

So! We know:

* Donald Sutherland is no stranger to sexually charged on-set hijinks and
* Donald Sutherland has practice with getting college-age co-stars to take their clothes off in-character.

SWEET DREAMS!

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Ahahahahahaha. YES THANK YOU FOR THAT.

(Also, Karen Allen is totally hot. Now I want to rewatch Raiders of the Lost Ark.)

(Also also, I would not be surprised if I dreamed of RPF dreams where both Donald Sutherland and Keira Knightley were DINOSAURS.)

Animal House = Our school. You know that right? The actors used to eat at Taylor's all the time while they were filming at the Frat Houses.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
I did know that! I think we actually had a conversation about it last year! Because, like, I used to live right across from the field where they did the scenes with the mud and the horses and everything.

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
Just making sure! I tell everyone that my dad was a member of one of the Frats (not the Animal House, but the other one), so I assumed I'd told you. But I never hesitate to repeat myself.

I have never actually seen the movie though. It's a sin, I know.

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
It is an awesome movie. I went to the 25th Anniversary toga party in Cottage Grove in '03. That was EPIC.

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Niiiice. I remember seeing the posters for the Cottage Grove Toga Party sometime earlier this year and being amused and vaguely tempted to go.

*uses her toga icon*

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
TOOOOGAAAA! TOOOOGAAAA!

(seriously, though, Animal House? One of my all-time favorite movies. I can [and have!] watch it three times in a row and laugh harder each successive time. I requested it for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. FLIPPIN' LOVE!)

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
Suddenly, I am tempted to wear a toga to my latin final on Tuesday.

(I really, really need to see it. Maybe I'll make it a goal for Winter Break)

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
OMG DO IT. Both the toga and the viewing. I wish my school offered Latin!

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but your school is, like, Shakespearey! That's also cool.

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
TRUE DAT, my friend. Which makes it rather weird that it doesn't offer Latin, come to think of it.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha. I get vaguely happy everytime I see you talking about your school on my flist, just because Ashland is apparently DIRECTLY CONNECTED in my mind with the best part of my high experience, i.e. the drama club trips to OSF in the summer. Woot!

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
YES! Okay, yes, I went down with my drama group too, and the thing that is so great about it is that you know that special shiny literate vacation Shakespeare theater heaven-on-earth vibe? THAT DOESN'T GO AWAY ONCE YOU LIVE HERE. I love my town SO MUCH. Sometimes when I'm walking home from plays late at night I dance down the street.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
Awww. That is SO COOL. Yay.

(Man, now I want to go and see plays next summer. DAMN MY POVERTY.)

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
OMG COME DOWN AND DO IT! We're doing Cyrano with chewy chewy Marco Baricelli and you can make fun of King John with me.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, man. That would truly be AWESOME.

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
I honestly don't think we have any white sheets in the house.

I love latin in the way that most latin students love latin. Disfunctionally. I love it, it hates me. I hate that it hates me, but want to understand it so our relationship can improve and blossom into me translating dirty poetry with ease and translate random phrases into latin on the fly.

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
It's so...geeky! And really, really helps me understand English better, what little I know of it. (What little I know of Latin. Hopefully I know more than a little of English. :P)

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
Latin is the epitome of Geeky. It seriously, seriously is. Because what is more geeky than learning a complicated and weird language that is DEAD and honestly totally useless in real life?

Latin is like... the Klingon of real languages. I mean, yeah, it's a little more useful with the helping with the English, but really? Mostly just like geekiness. Knowing all the names of all the Pokemon is really kind of on par.

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
HAHAHA YES! EXACTLY! It only helps you understand things that are even more geeky, like old poetry or Roman graffiti. It's so useless and esoteric AND YET!

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
AND YET so impressive.

Someday I will be able to pose and be all "Ha ha, yes, I speak latin."

Or rather: "Ha ha, sic, possum loqui latine!"

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, man, THAT will show them!

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone who mocked me before will be all "Damn, dude!"

And I'll be all "That's right, bitches!"

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
Man. That's gonna be AWESOME.

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
So totally.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
Your icon makes me want to well "SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!" at inappropriate times.

Also, now I want to watch Animal House. Which, uh, indicates it is the time of night when EVERYTHING sounds like more fun than finishing the last paragraph of my paper!

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
ah yes. THAT TIME OF NIGHT. Here is what I recommend:

1. Paper
2. GATOR!

(besides, the conclusion is totally the easiest part of the paper. That and Body Paragraph #3-5 when you're really in the body paragraph groove.)

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. It's not really a paper, though, it's a linguistic analysis? And I actually have the end done. I just have to go back and fill in the boring part I skipped earlier.

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
o-HO! That does make it different. And boring. :P

Also, just so you know? I am now wearing a lavender-colored hastily thrown-together toga. It seemed like the thing to do.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
That is AWESOME. I totally approve of quick wardrobe changes based on the subject of current internet discussion!

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
I thought about raiding the theater costume department for the "Skin of our Teeth" dinosaur suit, but decided it would be too much effort.

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
You can yell that ANYTIME in my presence. I will totally support that. And WOO.

We should rent it! And watch it! I've made it a goal!

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
We SHOULD! But I don't know if we'll have any time before I leave for home. Hmm.

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
Have you talked to your parents about the whole going home thingamagig? I haven't had a chance to confer with Amelia about when she'd like to make her way up North.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
I have talked to them, but they are being vague and weird, so. Who knows!

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well! We'll be heading out Friday sometime if you need the ride.

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
Karen Allen is my movie-star hero. GUH.

(I am currently writing Firefly fic ABOUT DINOSAURS. Not only do they eat each other and certain types of vegetation, they also eat...YOUR BRAIN!)

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
OMG ARE THEY ZOMBIE DINOSAURS?

Because that would be the best thing ever, and then my life would be complete.

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
Actually they are symbolic dinosaurs, which are sadly not QUITE as fun. (Well, a different kind of fun! ...right?) But OMG ZOMBIE DINOSAURS? ZOMBIE VAMPIRE DINOSAURS?

hi. I will be over here with my coloring book.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
Symbolic dinosaurs are TOTALLY also fun!

I wish I had a coloring book. I bet that would be more fun than constituent structure.

[identity profile] kerrypolka.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
You could, like, draw a constituent! And then color it! That would also be fun!

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
KK and DS has the same teeth. It's so creepy. I'm sure I've mentioned this to you already.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
You totally didn't mention that! That is weird. I guess ... that was good casting, then?

[identity profile] speshope.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
They're both really long toothed and... horsey. I was so distracted by it.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
...Do I have to go edit my entry with a note for spoilers in the comments now? Because I really am too lazy to do that.

[identity profile] fox1013.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No one would have realized it was a spoiler and not me being random had you not said that, dork.

[identity profile] pearl-o.livejournal.com 2005-12-06 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
...Whatever!
