Hey, look, more TOS episode reactions.
Is There In Truth No Beauty -- man, you guys, for the first half of this episode I was just depressed by the sexism. Most of the time I can just let it go with TOS and occasionally it's even almost lolzy, but here ... yeah, just depressing. The second half made up for it a tiny bit, though, because I have a new favorite fight scene EVER in the series. Spock's POV camera with the funny lens in! It was pretty glorious.
So basically the entire plot of The Tholian Web doesn't really make any sense unless you take as a given that Spock totally, completely, utterly loves Jim Kirk. I don't care whether it's a platonic love or not, but there's no way it's not all consuming. Oh gosh. (Okay, technically the plot doesn't make sense anyway, but -- you know what I mean.)
The scene with Jim's filmed message for Spock and Bones, omg.
Bones: "It does hurt, doesn't it?"
Spock: long pause, then-- "What would you have me say?"
