Remix stories!
29/4/12 16:02Remix authors have been revealed! Huzzah!
The author to whom I was assigned was
helens78, which was exciting because she's one of my favorite people in XMFC fandom and also she's super prolific, so there were lots and lots of stories to choose from. Of course, these were the same things that made get assigned to her a little intimidating! Either way, I got a chance to reread all of her awesome stories. In the ended up remixing her story Does It Feel Like This When - mostly because my ideas were remixing it gave me a chance to focus in on a) lots of ~~~YEARNING and ~~~PINING and b) Charles having sex with lots and lots of people. TWO OF MY FAVORITE THINGS. The end result was Feel Like This (Count Your Blessings Remix) - XMFC, Charles/Erik and Charles/others, explicit, ~1900 words.
(
mumblemutter, I know you knew right away that this was me; if you give me a prompt, I'll try and write you something as your reward!)
I also wrote three Remix Madness ficlets! All three of these were X-men: First Class fandom as well. I had hoped to write something in another fandom, too (maybe Avatar or Firefly), but ... yeah, I'm pretty monofannish at the moment.
The first of the Remix Madness stories was Tidy Desk (Gratification Remix), which was inspired by a story of
cesare's. Cesare's original fic is only about 350 words, but it immediately gave me lots of feelings and ideas to explore further, especially about older-student-Erik backstory. Plus, an excuse for shameless professor/student kink!
The second story was claustrophobic prudence (no sails, no motors, no oars remix), off of a story by
pocky_slash. This is one of the places where the anonymity was more theoretical than actual, because I can't really think of any way this could have been more obviously a story written by me and for
pocky_slash. The original story takes place immediately post-beach, in an AU where Erik has come back with them to the mansion instead of leaving, but things between Charles and Erik are still uncertain and difficult and there are a lot of emotions. My remix is basically me working with the imagery and themes of that story, and doing yet more exploration of struggling-toward-happy-endings and mutant school building. Good times!
My final remix effort was Admiring the View (Open Mouth Remix), based off of a story by isabeau, which was in turn inspired by one of the all-time greatest picture prompts. Honestly, this is basically 1000 words on the theme of "Fuck, Erik is ridiculously hot" mixed in with some bonus thoughts about Charles's sexuality and telepathy.
