During the visit with [livejournal.com profile] sprkid and [livejournal.com profile] anotheryourself and [livejournal.com profile] jacito this weekend, we were talking about where our lj titles came from. And I've told the story of mine before, but I think it's worth doing again, because the source is JUST THAT BRILLIANT.

We read this article the first week of my women in rock class last quarter:

http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/news/2004-03-29-classic-rock-kids_x.htm

The last paragraph, if you don't care to click the click, states as follows:

"Young people like to feel uplifted, but the culture has a sneer on its face so they turn to music, albeit frozen in time, that has an exuberant optimism. Artists in the '60s and to a degree in the '70s dared to hope, perhaps naively, that things could get better. Teens *should* be joyous and optimistic. There's plenty of time to be bitter and twisted later."

So, yes. Those last two sentences I carry very very close to my heart.

(I wonder if that means I have to definitely change my title and subtitle when I turn 20 in December? Oh, decisions.)

*heart*

Tonight there was nothing new on my friends, so I wandered around my bookmarks, and I wound up rereading first [livejournal.com profile] flambeau's The latest party and then [livejournal.com profile] katallison's Heavy Bag, and now I'm just. Man. Breathless and in love and stunned silly, and *god*, I love fandom sometimes.
