sprkid and I went grocery shopping yesterday. We'd stopped at the bakery outlet on our way, and I ended up getting some mini-pizza crusts for pretty cheap, so I decided to make them for dinner tonight.
Mini-pizza #1: tomato sauce base, shredded mozzarella, sliced red onion, a sprinkle of Parmesan. This one turned out okay, but nothing special; I think next time I'll try it with just the sauce and cheese, and try for browned and bubbly on top. Also, I think it'd be better with a different sauce -- the sauce I used is my favorite for pasta, but I think the pizza would be better off with a plain red one.
Mini-pizza #2: pesto base, sliced garlic cloves, chopped artichoke hearts (canned), shredded Parmesan. This one -- oh my god, it was so good it was almost painful. Just, mmmmmmmmm.
Mmmmm. So very very tasty. Slice the garlic a little thinner and more even next time, maybe, but otherwise, this was perfect.
Also, I really need to get a hold of the damn
How to Be a Domestic Goddess book one of these days; I keep remembering all these recipes in it I want to try. Like
this cake, which basically seems to consist of Nutella with some butter and eggs added. I'm sure it's painfully rich, but I kind of really want to give it a try. Although, really, the Italian name comes off as quite pretentious considering you're baking a jar of Nutella.
