Actually, the Discworld one is probably the closest thing I have to an OTP in the classic sense of the acronym -- I seriously cannot read any sort of Vimes fic without being sure it doesn't mess with the pairing; Vetinari/Vimes fic, the most common alternative, makes my tummy hurt and makes me wail "But Lady Sybil!"

Also, putting the (rather embarrassing) Newsradio one up there reminds me: DVDs for first and second seasons finally have a release date again! May 2005, baby.

Coming up on three years since I took Informal Logic at SRC, I was complaining to dsudis about how I seem to be forgetting all the names of various things. Like, I can still see where the fallacies pop up, and what's valid and what isn't, but I can't remember why, or what it's called.

So, then, of course, I went to look them up and remember what each one was called. And then I made up stupid little examples to show Dira, and she very kindly pretended to care even a little tiny bit.

So. I present to you all My Completely Pointless Examples of Logical Forms, Illustrated By Due South Slash. Enjoy.

Denying the Antecedent

If you are a Mountie, then you are hot.
Ray is not a Mountie.
Therefore, Ray is not hot.

FALLACY.

Affirming the Consequent

If you are Ray, then you are hot.
Fraser is hot.
Therefore, Fraser is Ray.

FALLACY.

Modus Tollens

If you are Fraser, then you are a Mountie.
Ray is not a Mountie.
Therefore, Ray is not Fraser.

VALID, YAY!!!

Modus Ponens

If Ray is really hot, then Fraser will want to have sex with him.

Rereading The Grand Tour, because yeah, as I mentioned the other day, I *heart* it muchly; it's a lovely comfort read till I get to the library this weekend.

Naturally, Aunt Charlotte made a number of shocked and uncomplimentary remarks when she discovered what we were planning. As it was none of her affair, James and I ignored her. Afrer all, Aunt Elizabeth did not see anything amiss about it, and she is at least as high a stickler as Aunt Charlotte. (Well, actually, what Aunt Elizabeth said was that if going on a wedding journey together was the oddest thing the four of us ever did, Aunt Charlotte should be grateful.)
