beta appreciation

I feel really ridiculously lucky to have this whole group of fangirls surrounding me. It's betaing, yeah, but it's not just sending the story off -- they brainstorm with me, they encourage, they comfort when I want to give up, they read anything I send off to them, they make it a hundred times better, they support and inspire. I would feel lucky enough to have one person who could be that sort of second pair of eyes for me (second brain, really, at times), but instead I have seven ridiculously talented, smart, funny fangirls who do all this for me on a regular basis.

I'm not naming names or anything? But if anyone, you know, was thinking of writing anything about Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal? There might happen to be a whole lot of pictures behind this cut tag here. I'm just saying.

Also, here is a zip file with five dozen pictures of the two of them apart and together, for no other reason than they're both really hot and I have a lot more pictures than I thought I did. Yay.

The icon I'm using on this entry is totally one of, like, nine new ones I added this morning. I still have dozens and dozens left over from my Week of Icon Frenzy, and I still have dozens of icon spaces left of my 100, and, well. Some of them are too pretty to die!

no, but seriously, wouldn't that be neat?

Actual thought that went through my head tonight:

"You know what fandom really needs? Stories about everybody dying in five or ten years of an influenza pandemic!!!"*

It's amazing, really. As much time as lalejandra spends convincing people she isn't squishy, I seem to spend even more time trying to convince people that, no, I really am a fluffy schmoopy marshmallow girl!

(Actually, you know, it might even be an interesting challenge -- assuming you're working with non-futuristic fandoms, I mean. But saying something like "In 2010, the world gets struck with influenza on the scale of 1918 or so" and then people all writing that story in their own fandoms? That would be AWESOME. It works for everybody -- due South, Buffy/Angel, SGA, etc, etc, etc. Man, this concept is going to intrigue me for DAYS.)

*Yes, I do indeed have punctuation like this in my thoughts. Sometimes I even have ALL CAPS.
