schmerica: (other: kitty says MEEP)
Wow, that is totally the longest I have gone without posting in months. I know some of you go weeks without thinking about it, but I don't say a word for four days and suddenly I need to swear to you all that no, REALLY, I'm still alive! It's okay! Don't panic yet!

Three things I have learned from the last few days at my parents' house:

1) Apparently, I am a bigger girl than previously thought: I don't like rum and cokes, because you can still taste the alcohol. Frozen daiquiris, however, remain my best friend!

2) Rubicon: the Last Years of the Roman Republic by Tom Holland = RIDICULOUSLY good book. I love history books that are fascinating and well-written and engaging and still manage to be really intelligent and make sense out of incredibly complex and confusing things. It gets many hearts. Not to mention, most of the plot of the entire series of Rome makes more sense to me now!

3) My sister made me watch the original music video to Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart". I'm pretty sure this is the pinnacle of something in the history of music videos, but I'm not sure of what. It's sort of a cross between the personification of the 80s, and a really fucking creepy horror movie. I mean, at least with most bad music videos you can identity some sort of overarching concept, but this is just surreal element after surreal element.

Now I am going to go off and watch Jersey Girl (starring Jen Garner's Baby Daddy!), which I have never seen. Woot.

(PS, I can't use bit torrent here, so I am behind on Deadwood. Is there any chance any of you might have it on your computer and be able to send it to me? I would be very grateful and willing to bribe you somehow.)
