I thought Lana/Pete happened in comics canon.

I also see plenty of canon subtext for Jack/Elizabeth, albeit mostly on his part. But especially after the cut scenes. It's not like the basically subtextless Jack/Norrington.

Oh, it did, but I don't think there's much Smallville canon support for it.

I don't consider cut or deleted scenes canon, either, though (I haven't actually seen the PotC deleted scenes, though I did watch the Jack Davenport and Keira Knightley audio commentary, which was amusing). I don't personally see much Jack/Elizabeth in the movie, but I'm sure other people could.

Well, even from the movie -- the island scene Jack seems to be pretty clearly hitting on her (while she's busily getting him drunk so she can torch stuff...), so I think there's evidence for him being attracted to her. Not so much the other way around, though. *shrug* I just wouldn't call it a pairing with no canon evidence.

I'm quite amused that Lana/Pete is "no canon sense," because I completely agree with you as we're shown on SV, even though DC canon gets them hitched.

well, yeah--but the comics Pete and Lana are two totally different characters, with a totally different backstory. I don't really count the comics characters where half the SV characters are concerned, since this is a whole adaptation with new self-contained canon...

Yeah, it's pretty much a matter of interpretation, I think. I can see there's "Jack is very drunk and hitting on the pretty girl", but in general thinking of Jack and Elizabeth has a ship still has a somewhat random feel for *me*, at least.
