Hmm, I always forget this episode comes this early in the season -- I'm not sure why. I think it was one of the first three or four episodes Livia showed me, after Victoria's Secret and Ladies' Man. Livia knows my woobie weakness very, very well.

Things that make me go *heart*:

+ The creepiness of the beginning
+ Fraser's phone conversation with Henry
+ "Bob. How do you spell that?"
+ Snotty Ray
+ Fraser leaping for the fan
+ Fraser dealing with the kids in the backseat
+ "I gotta bit of a temper." "People say the same thing about me." "Really?" "No."
+ "You whack that guy?"
+ Ray's discomfort for the kids in general
+ "That's not buddies ... I hate you."
+ "Scat in the city, it's virtually useless."
+ "You need professional help." "Psychiatric?" "No, cop help."
+ Mmm, the way Fraser just *automatically* goes into snark mode with Bob
+ "50." "40." "30." "20." "Done."
+ Fraser in his jeans and sweater, talking about home
+ Fraser in the whole almost-kiss scene ("Resist." "I can't.")
+ Fraser in long johns
+ Lost bounty hunters reading the maps
+ "He has remained a lesion--"
+ Fraser shaking hands with all the bounty hunters and Bradley's girlfriend in the background
+ "You pay this guy?" "Canadian funds."
+ "Did you ever feel lonely?" "Every second, son, every second." "That's what I thought."
+ Ray and Fraser at the end.
+ A general, "Fraser woooooobie" for the whole episode, really. *sniffle* Fraser!

Other notes:

+ Oh my god, I hate that cheesy montage SO DAMN MUCH. Jesus Christ. *shakes head*

yes, yes, and yes, with everything that makes you go *heart*. And even though I don't see Fraser with Janet MOrse *Ever*, I do so love watching Fraser wanting to kiss. In general. That open, aching *want* - and I gotta tell you, it doesn't read like love or even lust to me in that scene, it's a Fraser-woobie-do I ever get to have *anything*-want that just kills me.

And Ray, inactive Ray, so against type, trying to do what's right for both sides, and his frantic, "Look, Fraser, I can't," and Fraser making it even worse by *not arguing* that with him - *whimper*.

And talk to me about Fraser being able to push Frannie, Elaine, and Thatcher (uh. mostly) away, but having a wicked hard time not giving into the shady women (Scarpa, Victoria, and yeah, Janet, not up-front-Janet)? Issues, Fraser, issues. *Major* issues.

And

"You're lucky he didn't lick it."

Which of course gets me thinking about Fraser licking Ray's hands and then I get all distracted...

and

Oh my god, I hate that cheesy montage SO DAMN MUCH. Jesus Christ. *shakes head*

YES. Because, gah, we *just saw* all of these freaking "fond memories" occur within the last 28 1/2 minutes, okay? And we didn't like it then and we don't like it now, so just shoo, shoo, shoo, this whole montage is uncomfortable and cringe-worthy.

But! The end! With Ray! Asking Fraser on what I perceive as a DATE, canonically, and one thing leads to another, and wait, didn't I write a fantasy about this? *goes searching*:

with the cute-cute-cute scene of Ray asking Fraser out on a date (this is canon, man!):

"Hey, buddy, let's get something -- Uh, I know you're a little short of cash, but uh I'm flush, so I'm buying. Look, it'll be all right."

He notices that Fraser looks like a kicked puppy. And he puts his arm around Fraser, and walks him down the hall, and takes him out to dinner, only Fraser's still really down, and Ray just wants to make him feel better, somehow. And he suggests that because Thatcher is so pissed off, that Fraser should maybe come back home with him.

And Fraser agrees, a little reluctant, but obviously doesn’t want to be alone. They get back to Ray's apartment, and Ray's still sort of fidgety, wanting to help, wanting to come up with the right words to say.

But it's been Ray and Fraser since day one. Since Fraser didn't even know who Ray even was, it's been the two of them, Fraser on his tail, always covering him, and Ray's never been close like that, tight like that, with anybody. I mean, it doesn't hurt that Fraser's got these eyes that follow him everywhere, doesn't hurt that it makes Ray stop breathing when Fraser looks at him sometimes. Doesn't hurt that Fraser's so good-looking. But you know what? All that is something else. Extra. It's not the packaging that got to Ray. Look at Stella. He learned from that, a little. She's so pretty and sexy and hot, and all it got Ray was hurt. But it's different with him and Fraser. Ray doesn't have to worry, when it comes to Fraser. 'Cause guaranteed, Fraser's going to do something crazy and fucked up and guaranteed, Ray's gonna follow right behind him, and this is how they work, this is how they do things.

And it's easy now, is what it is. All of a sudden, it's easy for Ray to put his hands on Fraser, and Fraser looks up at him startled. And Ray doesn’t even let himself think. Not anymore. He just leans in and kisses Fraser the best way he knows how, trying to pour his fucking heart into it, saying everything he can't say with words through that kiss.

And then Fraser tears his mouth away from Ray's and there's still worry in his eyes, but it's shadowed by need, and all he does is say, "Ray." And that's it. He's caved, Ray's caved, they're in it together, and Jesus, Ray's been needy before, but now he needs Fraser, he's needed Fraser, forever, it seems like, and he's here, they're here, and Fraser's the one who's clutching at Ray...

Or, um. Wait.

Sorry.

Was that just me?

Um. Hi. I'm a dork. *waves*

Have I mentioned lately how much I totally madly absolutely adore you? Because I get the feeling I don't say it often enough.
