Apparently, I am the (proud?) owner of a Britney Spears "Sneak Preview Cassette." It has a copyright of 1998 and has one-to-two-minute snippets from "...Baby One More Time," "Born to Make You Happy," "Sometimes," "Deep in My Heart," and "You Got It All." It also tells me that the Britney Spears album is coming out this fall, how I can join Britney's fan club, and that this cassette is for promotional use only.

I am pretty sure I got this cassette as, like, a special thrown-in bonus from buying something from a now-defunct teenage girl-oriented mail catalog when I was in eighth grade. If I remember correctly, Britney Spears was on the cover and everything of one of the catalogs and helping model clothes and stuff in it. Just Nikki, maybe? Something like that.

I don't particularly care for her music, nor do I actually have a cassette player, but I find it an amusing curiosity nonetheless.

i have a new kids on the block interview cassette that i might have actually spent money on. i remember rewinding it to hear joey's voice crack when he said "life is like a bowl of cherries."

You were in 8th grade in 1998? Wow. You're a youngin'. =) Hey my sister was into New Kids on the Block, Color me Bad, 90210, etc. I was always into stuff I liked, not what people thought was cool. For some reason, stuff people thought was cool, sucked to me. lol Although when Power Rangers FIRST came out, I was obsessed with watching it and even had a big poster of it on my wall. *hangs head in shame* Hugs.

Heh. I find Britney Spears kind of fascinating in a "wow, media constructs and pop culture" sort of way, but nah, her music doesn't quite do it for me.

(I would admit it if I did! I don't have pop shame over, say, Nsync. And Mandy Moore, besides being quite adorable, has a recent album I really like.)

I dunno, I think the mailing of things might be more trouble than it's worth. And the sleeve and everything's kind of roughed-up by now.
