+ I got up at a decent hour
+ I did all my reading for class on Monday
+ I did almost all my Russian language homework for class on Tuesday
+ I had a nice conversation with [livejournal.com profile] anotheryourself and got to feel like a wonderful person for lending him money for his bus home
+ I read more of Kelly Link's Stranger Things Happen
+ I took a very short and pleasant nap
+ I set off the fire alarm for the ENTIRE BUILDING, necessitating COMPLETE EVACUATION and prompting the FIRE DEPT. TO COME IN A FIRETRUCK to check everything out while we all stood around outside for twenty minutes.

*facepalm*

Hi, I'm an ass, how are you?

Note to self: heating tortillas on burners is apparently a bad idea, and you should stick to the microwave from now on. Seriously, the tortilla was there for three seconds, I noticed burning and threw it out, and the alarm went off. Eeep.

Definitely time for more Buffy-watching. I got through the second part of What's My Line, Ted (CREEPY!!!) and Bad Eggs, so time for Surprise. Because god knows nothing cheers one up like the beginning of the Angelus arc!

*pets you*

See, when I set my oven mitt on fire, the first thing that went through my head was "Thank God there are no batteries in the smoke detector." Which, um, I should probably remedy, but it did come in handy...

LOL. That's why I'm going to die a fiery death in my sleep. I set off the smoke alarm when I cook so often that I'm always disconnecting it. And forgetting to reconnect.

Oh, deary me. Well, embarrassing as it is to necessitate a fire alarm, at least you didn't BURN the place DOWN, which has to rate higher on the sheer embarrassment scale, really. :-)

Hee! And wait, how did you set your oven mitt on fire?

That is, indeed, a truly excellent point. Nothing set on fire at all, and only one teeny tortilla burnt at all!

Heh. I've never set off the alarm before, and I really, really don't plan to do so again in the future.

It was on the back burner, and the pot was on the front burner, and I turned on the wrong burner. I guess it wasn't really on fire, but there was quite a lot of really foul smoke.

Do you have gas burners or electric, just out of curiosity? I heat tortillas up on burners all the time, but gas works best, and I use a pair of tongs to flip them continuously, or yes, they do catch on fire.

It can be upsetting.*G*

I ... do not know. Um. I know it is very different than the oven at my house, which had completely flat burners distinguished from the rest of the stovetop by being a different color circle. These ones have, like, coils. Yes. And burn things much more easily, apparently.

(And I was *about* to flip! I thought it could sit for five or ten seconds! And it didn't set on fire, exactly...)
