I promised
brooklinegirl the other day I would get her a copy of one of these songs when I got home. Now that I'm here, though, I figure I might as well share them with all of you. Ahhhh, country Christmas music. It's a genre all of its own.
I might get around to playing with the music I enjoy on a less amused and mocking basis later, but we'll see.
These are all from Merle Haggard's Goin' Home for Christmas album.
Merle Haggard - Santa Claus and Popcorn
Merle Haggard - Daddy Won't Be Home Again For Christmas
Merle Haggard - If We Make It Through December (note: I recommend this one especially highly)
Merle Haggard - Lonely Night

15/12/04 12:20 (UTC)The one that wrenches my heart, though, was written about a pair of twins. One became a street hustler, and is dying of AIDS. The song is sung in the words of his twin, who's come to take him home. It's called "Wandering Boy." If you want to cry your eyes out, but feel a catchy beat at the same time (bizarre but true) go listen to it.

So...here it is again.
