Dear shocking amount of people posting over at House Fanfiction Archive:
If you're marking your story as, say, "House/Cameron" or "House/Wilson"? You should not be also marking it as gen. Those things are complete opposites. Not having a pairing -- particularly a non-canonical pairing -- is what gen means.
love,
me
...It has been a really long time since I read from archives. Weird. *pokes vaguely*

7/3/05 21:40 (UTC)By and large, no matter what fandom I'm posting in, I always I mark any story where a B-story or relationship is in play with the het or slash as a secondary label, but if it's a plot driven story, then it's still gen (but some people need to know if the 'ship included in the story is one flavour or another, because they have a bias against/preference for one or the other and get cranky if they can't sort as they like.).
I only mark it solely het or slash if it's a romance. "Gen" to me has never meant "ship-free" just that the main focus of the story is not the 'ship.
