+ I actually don't know if I would ever be up to watching the whole thing again -- it doesn't seem like it would stand up to repeated viewings by me -- but for now? AWESOME.

+ I was already predisposed to like Rachel McAdams simply because she appeared in the cinematic gem that is Mean Girls, but between watching The Notebook Saturday and then this show tonight, I am now convinced she is the cutest thing since sliced bread.

+ I was going to phrase something here concerning whether or not the Oliver-Geoffrey relationship was supposed to have a textual unrequited sexual element on Oliver's side, but I got distracted by the fact that my default phrase for such situations is "totally gay for him." This actually breaks down as a figure of speech when the character involved is, in fact, canonically gay in general.

+ There were an astonishing amount of actors in this who seemed very familiar and yet when I went to their imdb profiles I recognized nothing. Also, the chick who played Maria was oddly reminiscient of Lauren Graham if you aged up a bunch.

+ [livejournal.com profile] estrella30 is stupid and wrongheaded for her random hatred and prejudices. My Don McKellar love has only increased. LOOK NANCY I AM EVEN USING AN ICON WITH A CLEAR SHOT OF HIS FACE TAKE THAT.

Oliver was so very very much in love with Geoffrey -- that's why he slept with Ellen, IMO, so he could be closer to Geoff. (And yeah, that's kind of fucked up, but ...)

When I first got the DVDs I taped them for a bucnh of people, and then I watched it all again with my son, and [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel and again with [livejournal.com profile] osirusbrisbane ... I've literaly lost count of how many times I've seen the series. And I love it still.

I thought the urequited love was textual. It's been awhile. Paul's talent comes to fore when he's explaining the motivations of the characters to the actors. Awesome.

I got to see a few eps when I was in BC on vacation in January. I'd love to see the whole thing. I really enjoyed the two episodes that I watched. I've been hoping to see it on DVD, but so far no luck.

You don't even want to KNOW how long it took me to place together that Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls was the same as Rachel McAdams in The Notebook.

Look, her hair's DIFFERENT, okay?

Dude, in Slings and Arrows her hair's even differenter. It's, like, black. And also pretty short.

I've never watched the whole thing through in order, but I've watched several episodes many times over (I'm at the mercy of Showcase programming, you see) and I never get tired of them, but then I'm obsessive like that. Rachel McAdams is the cutest thing since Kaylee.

The intense director/actor relationships, I think, were canonically highly sexualized, most explicitly in Ellen's case with both Geoffrey and Oliver, but I think you can argue Oliver/Geoff and Geoff/Jack as well, to varying degrees.

See, I suspect if I rewatched it I would be very tempted to fast forward a lot and just get all the good parts -- like, a lot of the first two episodes are kind of slow, and the corporate plot with Richard and Holly doesn't interest me that much. So there's a bunch of stuff that's really important and the viewer needs to get, but really now that I know all that I might just want to watch the bits that make me make the loud squeaky noises.

I always love it when I start watching something because So-and-So is in it, and by the end, I'm in love with it for reasons that have nothing at all to do with it. I watched Twitch City for CKR, originally, and I wouldn't have seen this if it weren't for PG, but they both ROCK, and not just because they're in it.

*nod* I got lucky with serrico offering out tapes way back when. The generosity of fandom is a beautiful thing.
