Wow, so the sister and I just finished watching Wimbledon -- her choice at the movie rental place tonight -- and I? Ended up getting way more into that than I expected. I hadn't heard that much about it -- aside from the random Paul Bettany lust-filled girls on my flist -- so I was just expecting a random mediocre romantic comedy sort. Which it was, basically, except I got WAY INTO IT. Seriously, I just spent the whole movie going "Yes! Play that tennis, Paul Bettany! Yay, fall in love, you crazy tennis players! OMG KIRSTEN DUNST DON'T LEAVE HIM! OMG PAUL BETTANY DON'T CHOKE ON THE FINALS YOU CAN DO IT *GASP*! OMG BAAAAAAAAABIES!"

Um, the lesson here isn't that the movie is good, obviously. The lesson here is that I'm a dork.

Earlier tonight I got my hair cut, and it looks ridiculously cute. I WIN.

Speaking as someone who has played tennis- I could explain it to you. :) It's lots less boring if you understand it- of course, I've played it- was on the high school team- and so it's the only sport I can watch on television and get into in any way shape or form. And I would still rather be playing rather than watching.

Or I could stop babbling now...

*laughs* I loved that movie for Paul Bettany. Kirsten Dunst I could take or leave, but I pretty much saw the romance as not the focus of the film, but one of the component of the focus which was the Redemption of Paul Bettany.

but *hem* that was just me.

I had totally the same reaction when I watched it on the 'plane home at Easter. My mate thought I was hilarious, because I get terribly engaged in movies, to the point of gasps, hands over mouth, jumping etc depending upon the circumstances. I was WAY engaged with the tennis matches - and really, I couldn't care less about Tennis, for the most part. But it was fab. And he was so lickable. And they were cute. And there was lots of Britain.

And the whole him/his best mate thing was cute too. And the little brother. And mum and dad. It was just a very engaging wee movie, imho.

I liked it too. You seem to be having movie night. May I suggest the Notebook, if you're in a romance mode...

Heh, I don't know -- I tend to find most sports boring, whether I know what's going on or not.

See, I don't usually get that engaged, especially with this kind of move, which made it all the weirder. But yes, it was very cute.

Dude, that's exactly it. Maybe they really had some other, much more interesting movie playing subliminally.

Yeah, I know. I was shocked with myself when I finished it and was like... analyzing it and shit. I never analyze and shit. I go "ooh shiny" and move on. But nooo. Wimbeldon apparently sparked my brain to actually think about things.

Hee, we just watched that one a week or two ago. The sister and I are both totally girl-crushing on Rachel McAdams at the moment, and she and Ryan Gosling were so adorable in that that we didn't even care that we could see every single string of sentimental manipulation.

I think that most sports *are* boring. When my sister and father talk about baseball, she actually translates for me. or my eyes glaze over.
