You know, I never had an ear infection once in my childhood. Apparently my body is making up for its mistakes in my infancy! Next thing you know, I'll be getting chicken pox.

(Please insert the necessary knocking-on-wood there yourself, okay?)

On the subject of things that are not me whining -- and yet still in lieu of actual content in this journal -- I continue to spend large amounts of time fooling around and experimenting with images. This weekend, I also reread one of my very, very favorite stories: [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's Passion. This is approximately the eight millionth time I have read it, and the first time I have bawled all the way through it. I have a great many woobie Fraser buttons, and this story hits all of them and then some.

I made a cover for it, which you can find behind the cut tag here.

Clicking on the picture will take you to Ces's awesome story.

May I suggest the chicken pox vaccine?

I always found ice cream comforting when I had earaches. Both because it was tasty and because the cold vapors somehow made it up my nasal passage to my ears. Like an icepack, but tasty! Icepacks are good, too, and you have my deepest sympathy -- earaches are horrible.

The chicken pox vaccine has so far worked for me, but I haven't been exposed since before I had the vaccine. It does at worst reduce your chances, though, so no real loss.

Hmm. I do not think I have any ice packs! I don't even have ice cube trays for makeshift cubes-in-bags-or-washcloths. Hmm.

I didn't notice a real difference in the pain while eating ice cream, though, anyway. The hot steam from the shower seemed to help, though.

Send some kind friend for an icepack -- they really do help.

Ice cream is psychologically comforting, at least?

You inspired me to reread Passion. It's so good. This line always kills me: "I took this bus, I drove this car, I got on this train, I walked down this street, I turned this corner, I opened this door and Stella was on the other side. She was twelve, I was thirteen, and even to this day I can not tell you why I wanted her so much." and I love the epilogue with Ray's love affair with the hardware store. *G*

My favorite of Speranza's is Hanged Man (http://trickster.org/speranza/Hanged.html). Maybe I'll reread that now too. It's important that I make it all the way to my lunch break without getting any actual work done.

Fraser's face! FRASER'S FACE! WHY DOES IT LIKE RIPPING MY INSIDES OUT AND TYING THEM AROUND TELEPHONE POLES?

*goes off to read Passion for the umpteenth millionth time*

I adore Hanged Man, but to really crawl into my heart and live there forever, I need a lot more Fraserness in a story. My other most very favorite of Ces's is, I think, Mangy Dog. Because, yes.

*beams* He is the WOOBIEST OF WOOBIES. I actually used the screencap from the end of CotW, when he's looking at his mother, for his face here -- because, frankly, that moment in the show does the exact same thing to my insides that Passion does. *sighs happily*
