beat with STICKS
29/11/05 13:38God, Edmund Bertram/Fanny Price is seriously one of the grossest canon het couples ever. Ew ew ew ew EW. I sort of want to beat them away from me with sticks. Seriously, in my head, I'm forced to have this whole big AU for the ending of the book going on, where Mrs. Rushworth disgraces herself with someone else, and it ends with Fanny with Henry Crawford and Edmund with Mary Crawford, just to make the book bearable.
In conclusion, Mansfield Park is really not my favorite Austen.

29/11/05 21:56 (UTC)Oh. I hear you. I've not even managed to re-read it because my greatest desire is to slap Fanny Price (and Edmund) with dead fish.

30/11/05 00:07 (UTC)I think a Masfield Park AU comm would be utterly brilliant. Just so you know. I would totally write a fic where Susan B. Anthony gets bron a few centuries earlier than she really did, and meets up with Fanny & co. Because. OMG. *punches ALL OF THE CHARACTERS IN THE FACE*

30/11/05 04:42 (UTC)Most of Austen's work tends to be nicely femslashy, really; I guess it's a natural consequence of acknowledging female relationships as important.

Really, Mansfield Park is all obsession and really dry wit. It's such fun to play with.
