1. I'm female.

2. I'm a feminist.

3. I'm a slasher. By slash, I include both m/m and f/f. As much as I like het and gen, too -- and I like them a lot -- I'm most likely to read them if they're written by other people who identify as slashers.

4. I'm young. I started college at 16; I got into fandom at 17; I turn 21 in mid-December.

5. If you don't explicitly tell me otherwise, I will probably assume all the above things are true for you, too, when we get into a conversation for the first time. (Although by young, I mean I will probably assume you're either in your twenties or early thirties.)

6. I'm depressed. Most of the time this is under control. Sometimes it's less so.

7. I'm straight. I think girls are hot, but I don't want to have sex with them. All of my significant emotional relationships tend to be with women, however (and more often than not, with queer women).

8. My politics are not necessarily the same as yours. I grew up in an extremely conservative, Republican family, and though my politics have drifted way far away from theirs, I still love and respect my family and think they're good people. Therefore, I am probably not the best audience for your "kill them all! fucking bastards!" jokes or rants. I don't belong to the Democratic party, and I don't identify as a liberal; my orientation is closest to "crazy libertarian."

9. I am not always very nice. I am probably bitchier than you think I am. Unless you already think I am bitchy, in which case you are probably just right.

10. I don't have very many squicks. I have a lot of weird kinks, and I am respectfully neutral of a whole lot more. I talk about incest and erotic asphyxiation and sex toys and bondage and underage and non-con and forced sex and threesomes and voyeurism and angst and fluff and second person and present tense and broken OTPs and genderfuck and crossdressing and whatever comes into my head. If I don't like something (*cough*Ray/Ray*cough*), I'll probably talk about that, too.

this is quite possibly one of the things that I love the MOST about you.

I always forget about your politics - my knee-jerk reaction is to assume people are democrats or liberals. Which can be, you know, startling when it's found to be not true! But what I love about you is that you actually see both sides of the story and are SMART, to boot.

I am probably bitchier than you think I am. Unless you already think I am bitchy, in which case you are probably just right.

I am with Nancy there! I remember when we found that out about you, SO very long ago, and how PLEASED we were. Because you do, bizarrely, have an auro of pleasantly insane niceness about you.

I'm fascinated by how many of the points above would be the same for me, including the politics. I'm pretty much a moderate in some areas, though a dyed in the wool liberal on social issues. My parents were much more left wing than I, though my father confessed to voting for Reagan...one time. On the other hand, my brother married an arch conservative and started voting Republican, though by all accounts he's still pro-choice, which for me is pretty much the "Hate/Don't Hate" line for me.

I can tell you, however, that I am more than twice your age...waaaay more, have never been serious depressed and have a few more squicks than you.

Though not Ray/Ray, heh.

I knew all of that!

*beams with knowledge*

Also, I'm deeply amused that yes, all of that is TOTALLY TRUE FOR ME. Except for #7. And #8. But I make up for that by having #9 EXPONENTIALLY.

*adores you*

I was going to say that you're like a girl fag hag... but then that just seemed... redundant.

And I'm totally there with you about the political thing. I'm pretty much a moderate, which my dad mocks me about, but I don't know how else to to term myself. I'm conservative about certain areas, I'm liberal about other things. I'm registered as an independant for a reason.

I usually just read your fic, but hey, what the hell.

wow, didn't realise you're that young, especially when most of fandom do seem to be people at least in their 30s... as to politics, party membership aside, I think we can safely assume that a slasher is pretty okay with gay rights, etc. (and if he/she isn't, then I really have nothing to say to him/her).

other than that, I usually don't assume anything.

i forget about them too, which is funny. i remember this one time in fourth grade, i think, when she was talking about political things and i was all "wahuh?"

...and that's why she's the smart one.

You started college at 16? I knew that you are young, I knew that you are smart. But you started college at 16? Um. Wow.

Re #9: *g* I was right.

I've always kind of thought it was neat that we got into fandom at the same time & are roughly the same age.
