Oh, honey, I've never been a DS fan, but I was in fandom generally when the Ray Wars were raging, and I don't think anything in Smallville fandom comes close to the vicious nastiness of those. And that was pre-LJ, when a lot more of it was lists, and secret private lists, and semi-secret mocking other people lists, and public lists with private bitching in the background, and, yeah, no. due South is peaceful now, just like salt is cheap and ubiquituous now. Doesn't change the fact that at one point it was so prized and rare people used salt as money (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt#History).
