Season 5 Alias, yay! I watched the first nine episodes this weekend -- I, uh, meant to stretch it out over this whole week, but that didn't happen. But I reached the point of mid-December, and am now taking my own little hiatus before I start 5.10. Although, of course, my hiatus will not last four months.
Things!
+ The one thing that makes me sad about Alias, really, is the high cast turnover rate. I miss you, Will and Francie and Lauren and Nadia! WEISS DON'T GO! Nobody cares about Washington DC! Waaaah!
+ The season premiere felt really, really rushed -- like, ridiculously so; it felt like two or more episodes squished into one. I thought maybe Vartan was just in a real hurry to get out of there, but he shows up later in the season, so whatever. Maybe it was just to get the 4 months later out there quick so they could show Jen Garner's belly.
+ I had lost interest in Vaughn a little for quite a while prior to his death -- I don't dislike him, but I don't really care about him -- but, oh man, Michael Vartan is a very pretty man, especially when he's either getting beaten up or doing the beating on others.
+ New people: I love Rachel, but I'm still reserving judgment on Renee and New Guy.
+ Speaking of Rachel: oh, man, I was TOTALLY convinced she was a huge dyke. That whole conversation about guys not being her type, and her and Amy Acker's friendship not having competition? And then her being really gay for Syd (which, admittedly, pretty much every female character not related to her ends being gay for Syd, but still)? She was totally marked "giant lesbian" in my head, and then she went and slept with Sark. Alas. I suppose "I don't usually do this kind of thing" could apply to sleeping with guys as well as it does to one night stands, though.
+ I never realized that all you had to do to get a first-listed special guest star credit was sit in a bed with your eyes closed for 30 seconds. Still, Nadia? Really pretty, even in a five month coma!
+ Jennifer Garner is one of those people who just looks really, really cute pregnant. I don't know why, but she looks awesome.
+ Also, I love how the pregnancy gets used in all of her spy stuff. So clever!
+ I love Jack forever and forever and ever. The crib scene!
+ "Horizon" was a VERY STRESSFUL EPISODE OMG. I need someone to hold my hand and let me squeeze when I have to watch pregnant women getting tortured! The Syd/Vaughn was done beautifully there, though; I cared more there than I had about them since s2. Oh, Sydney.
+ I was completely shocked by the Irina revelation and flailed for five solid minutes. I was talking in all caps for a half hour more.
