Ironically, I was going to do a metaphor using M/K.
In this sense: M/K can be really hot. It can be entertaining. But it is only good when all parties involved know how fucked up it is, and there is not a hint of domesticity.
So, Mulder having sex with Krychek in a moment of weakness while they are trying to fight a common enemy? Sure. Russian Prison Sex (tm)? Sure. Messed up post-colonization epic where they are somehow part of the human resistance? Sell me on it.
But the idea of happy domesticity in the DC burbs? no. way. in. hell. (1).
Ray/Ray. It's not my pairing of choice. I'll read it if it is sold as some sort of messed up post Fraser/ post- Stella/post apocalyptic thing.
But I can't buy "ray/ray love each other more than they love cake. And Benton Fraser". I can't buy the idea of longterm happy domesticity of the Rays. I agree that the idea of either of them choosing each other _over_ Fraser makes no sense of the course of the show.
And Ray/Fraser/Ray, somehow is just wrong. These are three people who cannot form some sort of weird little threesome. None of them seem wired that way. Heck, RayK & Fraser are like walking poster children for obsessive monogamy. They are simply not all going to form some happy threesome with a giant bed somewhere. (2)
(1). As a resident of the DC burbs, all I can say is that Mulder needs to have some money, because a decent love nest is going to run at least 1/2 million. At least. Figure that Fox Mulder is pretty much banned from multi-family housing at this point, if he was staying in Alexandria? In a house with a yard big enough to bury a body, and with enough available parking to hold conspiracy meetings? Plus maybe metro access, because often members of the anti-alien resistance won't drive?
Once Krychek inevitably concludes the removal of Mulder from the FBI, then how exactly do they pay this mortgage? Does evil come with good health insurance?
(2) King Size or not, three men of six foot height do not easily fit in a bed toghether. Even when very friendly. And do you know how much those cost in the Artic? Lots.
