Hahahaha, I know how totally irrational it is and I kind of hate myself for it, but it's kind of nice to have a pairing to focus your hate on that strongly, you know? It makes things so much simpler.

I'm trying to think of something to start wank about in due South (and when I say wank, I am not implying that recent meta discussions in other fandoms have been wank, I'm just looking for the most entertainment value). It's hard, dude. We're all so polite it's kind of disgusting. I mean, I might look at people funny when they admit they honestly don't like Vecchio at all or when they refuse to read any het whatsoever, and they might think I'm crazy when I post Vecchiocest or wrinkle my nose at Ray/Ray, but we all tend to be nice about it.

(If anyone mentions the Ray/Ray wars at this point, I am going to go insane, I swear to god, because YES, at one time Due South was a wanky fandom, YES we all know our sordid history and NO it has almost nothing to do with how the fandom works or has worked for at least the past three and half years I've been here.)

I was bitching about various different fandoms to a friend yesterday and saying to her how every fandom has its own personality and they're all pretty much awful in their own way. And then I was all, oh except due South fandom, which is nice. :D

... well, except that I think it has everything to do with how the fandom has worked for the past several years, because everyone who was involved then is either dead/gone (fannishly speaking) or post-traumatic and stepping very carefully, so everyone in the fandom now is either post-traumatic or new (where "new" = came in after).

Sorry if that makes you insane. Um. We could wank about how even in Chicago, most of the cops sound like New Yorkers. (Or like Torontonians trying to sound like New Yorkers.) What's that all about?

*snicker* Dude, things still exist when you are not looking at them! But, yeah, actually I don't think it's that weird. dS is *so* lowkey, between the lack of new canon and no loud wank, that if you're not in it and you're not in constant discussion with someone who's loudly in, it's practically comatose.

That was more of a response to times in the past when I've made entries of dS fandom, and people in the comments had taken upon themselves to educate me and assume I don't know the background of anything I'm talking about.
