I actually didn't even see that it was you until I'd concocted and posted my cracked-out reply - it was the morphosyntax question that got me typing. *facepalm* BUT THEN IT WAS YOU! And I was like, "Oh god, she's going to think I'm the biggest stalker," but then I figured it'd probably be okay since IT APPEARS WE ARE MAYBE THE SAME PERSON?
2. I did major in linguistics - I was heavy on phonology and dialectology - but NOT BECAUSE I WAS ANY GOOD AT IT. In fact, I HAVE NO APTITUDE FOR IT WHATSOEVER, and it was sheer stubbornness that got me through (that and I had the English major to fall back on). Stubbornness and a total love for the comfortable, unashamed geekery that happens among linguists. I'm still totally in awe of any of you that really truly understand linguistics, and also *floored* by how *many* of us there are. [Keanu Reeves voice] Whoa.
3. AHAHAHAHA No, really, I laughed out (very) loud at your reply for like a solid minute. THIS JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER. Bring it on, Twilight Zone!!
