third year on the ice but first without patrick. ive never felt this far away from everybody.

everybody misses you trick. bob is lost wo you.

miss all of you. miss hemmy. no dogs is worst thign about this place. joes been sending me pics. i have them up on my wall but people keep showing me photos of their ugly nephews and nieces in return.

in love. in love on the ice is better than being in love anywhere else. last night was dancing and drinking and watching the sun shine on the ice. we didnt get any sleep before we had to work again. mikey almost fell asleep washing dishes. lucky my jobs cushy desk chair.

mikeys reading over my shoulder. he saw a penguin last week with the cargo truck. he says it tried to attack him and eat his jacket. i told him ill protect him from all the cute snuggly predators out there.

not sleeping too bad. works tiring me out every day. having someone else in the bed helps. if patricks not gonna sing to me every night this is the next best thing.

Hi. This made me flail so hard at work; it's a good thing my cubicle-mate is out til tomorrow.

Thought I'd actually introduce myself- I think I friended you ages ago, during my first heady due South days. And then I was in denial about the whole bandom thing for a long, long time. But I don't need another fandom! I said to myself, and besides, I already have a band fandom! And these bandom boys, they're really not all that cute. I can totally resist!. Uh-huh. Right. Then I tripped over a couple of AUs someone on my flist posted links to, and from there pretty much dove into bandom headfirst and am currently wallowing around in it. So if you get weird random comments in some of your older bandom squee posts? Those would be from the crazy lady who is kind of late to the bandom party, but loving every insane squee-makig minute of it!

I tumbled down the rabbit hole sometime towards the end of November, myself! I think it helps that I was already used to a) RPS and b) boys in bands being ridiculously adorable and hot and touching each other. Um. A lot.

I'm pretty sure it went something like this:

When Mikey was 5 years old some distant great aunt, who he didn't really know and had that weird old person smell, presented him with an adorable fluffy stuffed penguin toy. And Mikey loved it a lot and slept with it and it was his favourite thing ever.

But he used to terrorise Gerard, getting into his room and destroying the pictures he'd drawn (not that Mikey meant to, he just wanted to colour in things too, and he liked the purple crayons the best). So Gerard, who was one day feeling unusually evil, told him that penguins were evil carnivores that would attack people and devour their clothing. And then one night Mikey awoke to find his beloved stuffed penguin toy seemingly trying to tear apart his favourite PJs that he was wearing. And even after he realised it was Gerard playing a mean trick on him, he could never sleep with the penguin again and had to put it into the closet each night before he went to sleep just in case. Since then he'd always steered clear of penguin enclosures in zoos and had refused to see Happy Feet at the cinema and although he was aware there'd be penguins in antarctica, he'd been assured they stayed far, far away from people, possibly on the other side of the continent, so it was completely not his fault he'd been surprised and almost savagely attacked, and really it was mean of Pete to tease him, considering Pete had been the one who'd been surprised at the lack of Polar bears when they'd first arrived.

(But at some point Pete will turn up with a wee orphaned baby penguin that someone has rescued and try and make Mikey touch it, but Mikey will refuse because everyone knows the fluffy cuteness is just to lure people in, the way pitcherplants contain sweet, sweet nectar to capture its victims)

And awwwwwwwww oh man, that is so adorable! I suspect it might be like eight million different types of illegal to mess with the wildlife there, but ... BABY PENGUIN.

(And if I was going for strict realisticness, I doubt my pretty bipolar boys would even pass the physical or psychological requirements. Not to mention both Way brothers would have trouble dealing with the alcohol=main-activity there.)

Sometimes Pete tells Mikey stories about unicorns being BFF with baby penguins. MIKEY IS NOT AMUSED.

(I wonder if there are restrictions there regarding wildlife, or whether they just assume that if you manage to get onto the continent, you must be smart enough to know not to mess with stuff. I'm curious now. As a kid I had a pet blue penguin for the better part of a year- not in Antarctica, of course- and that was allowed, possibly because it had been injured and we'd nursed it back to health)

Oh my god, Pete would so tell Mikey those stories. And Mikey would be worried about the poor unicorns defending themselves from that vicious attack.

I feel somewhat better that random comments are encouraged, although I do apologise in advance for any weirdness that may ensue.

I think Pete would totally want to do that, and have it all arranged as his devious master plan! But then he gets caught up in the heat of the moment everytime and doesn't remember until afterwards when Mikey's all snuggly and warm and half-asleep draped over him. And by that point Mikey's just like "uh huh. penguins. shut up, pete." and unpokable.

OH, MAN. I haven't been reading any Antarctica blogs for a while now, but that existence makes me all !!! inside.

I really want a Antarctica bandom AU like burning, but I know I can't actually write the thing. And, uh, I don't know anyone else as obsessed with polar regions as I am to make do it.

I vote ice cream makes EVERYTHING better.
