What the hell -- here is that feedback meme, you guys. Um, hi.

Yesterday

bexless and I had a conversation where we reminisced about our days in Smallville fandom, and how incredibly ~~batshit~~ gay it was. Oh, god, it was glorious. Glorious. And then we talked about how it makes sense that we both ended up in bandom, because it's possibly the only fandom we've come across that really is just as ridiculously blatant.

But I had to point out the one really significant different between the two is that while bandom is totally self-aware and in fact embraces its gay, Smallville was completely oblivious. Like, people who were not in fandom were uncomfortable watching it sometimes! You were like "I know there's a way in which they mean for this to be interpreted, but for the life of me, I have no idea what it is."

And then this morning I realized exactly what it reminded me of:

Narrator: On the next Arrested Development, Tobias listens to a day's worth of his own recordings to see what Michael was referring to.
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] Even if it means me taking a chubby, I will suck it up!
Tobias Fünke: [out loud] Nothing wrong with that.
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] I've been in the film business for a while but I just cant seem to get one in the can.
Tobias Fünke: [out loud] Context...
Tobias Fünke: [on tape] I wouldn't mind kissing that man between the cheeks.
Narrator: And he realizes there IS something distinct about the way he speaks.
Tobias Fünke: [out loud] Tobias... you blowhard!
