schmerica: (to love and be loved)

On reflection, I find this pleases me.

(It's totally her dad in the background that makes the picture, of course.)

Also pleasing me this evening: SOMEONE IS WRONG ON THE INTERNET.

Note to self: "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is probably a bad choice for music when you're feeling this itchy and restless about not having a dude to make out with.

Is "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" about werewolves? THIS IS A SERIOUS QUESTION.

No, but a different Meatloaf song (You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth) starts with this spoken word exchange:

BOY: On a hot summer night would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
GIRL: Will he offer me his mouth?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Will he offer me his teeth?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Will he offer me his jaws?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Will he offer me his hunger?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Again, will he offer me his hunger?
BOY: Yes!
GIRL: And will he starve without me?
BOY: Yes!
GIRL: And does he love me?
BOY: Yes
GIRL: Yes
BOY: On a hot summer night would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
GIRL: Yes
BOY: I bet you to say that to all the boys.

...Which always makes me think of Gerard, actually! Also last year when I was in the worst of my weird breakdown and was having that creativity rush that sometimes comes with it, I was totally plotting a YA werewolf novel set at a College for Younger Scholars using Meatloaf lyrics as a running motif. UH.

Okay, so my Meatloaf → werewolf association is not ENTIRELY random. GOOD TO KNOW.

But why would they need to do it in cars?

Um, they're in rival packs and have to resort to car sex? Because if they have sex within miles of either pack THEY'LL SMELL IT with their super werewolf smelling sense. OH NOES.

So what you're saying is, maybe ALL pop songs are secretly about werewolves.

Well, some of them are probably about vampires, pirates or ninjas.

I would like to hear some of these pirate songs, to be honest.

Total Eclipse of the Heart is totally about pirates.

All this time I have been thinking it was about creepy boarding schools where lights shine out of your eyes possession-style! Man.

For some reason this conversation is reminding me I never shared "Bang the Doldrums" with you. This is the song Pete wrote about Miiiiiiikeyway. I tried to sing it for you in the car to Cobra. SONG (http://www.sendspace.com/file/lgjcdr)

Is MikeyWay a werewolf, ninja, pirate, or vampire?

.... or unicorn?

Mikeyway defies categorization. This song makes me think of pirates, though, because it sounds like the chorus is going "YO HO HO", even htough there are apparently real words going on there.

Heeeee. So many bandom songs (esp FOB) are like this for me. "I know there are actual words going on here, but I have no clue what they are so I'll just make phonetic approximations."
