schmerica: (happy endings for everybody)
[personal profile] schmerica
FIRST THINGS FIRST: don't read any fic at all until you have seen Call of the Wild, Mountie on the Bounty, and Victoria's Secret. Trust me!

And okay, with that out of the way! Here's where you start:

+ Everything by [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza (site link
+ Everything by [livejournal.com profile] resonant8 (site link
+ Hawks and Hands by [livejournal.com profile] dsudis, aka the fucking epic hockey AU
+ Heavy Bag by [livejournal.com profile] katallison (Kat is actually maybe my favorite fanfiction writer ever, but I'm not reccing you her other stuff, because I don't think the darker or angstier stuff is your style)

That should last you quite a while, actually. After that I would say start wandering around [livejournal.com profile] china_shop and [livejournal.com profile] sprat's pages -- they both have links in their profiles. Oh, and the rest of Dira's stuff. [livejournal.com profile] kassrachel has a lot of good stuff, too.

Other stories:

How Ray Got His Groove Back by [livejournal.com profile] thisisbone and [livejournal.com profile] cimmerians -- also, just go to the archive and search for both/either of them, there's lots of yummy stuff)
Fall by [livejournal.com profile] kaneko
This is Where We'll End it (this link does not actually work anymore, wtf, but I want to put it here as a place saver so I don't forget about it, because it's amazing)
O My America by [livejournal.com profile] laurakaye
All the Comforts of Home by Denise Raymond
What We Talk About When We Talk About Wolves by penelope whistle

I was going to rec you Brighid's stuff, too, but it looks like she's taken it offline.

[livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl and [livejournal.com profile] estrella30 and [livejournal.com profile] nifra_idril and [livejournal.com profile] octette and [livejournal.com profile] basingstoke and [livejournal.com profile] kormantic all have awesome fic that fills me with ridiculous joy, but for all of them I would wait until you had seen more of the RayK episodes. (If you were going to read any of mine, I would wait for the same reason.)

With all that said, the most important thing to remember is this: Ray/Ray is like Patrick/Mikey ONLY A MILLION TIMES WORSE. Anybody who tells you differently is LYING.

Ahahaha you are a lying liar who lies, but it's fine, because Ray/Ray/Fraser fixes everything. LIKE A BASKET OF PUPPIES, OK. SNARKY ONES.

Is this where we also get to talk about our favorite DS fics ever? If it isn't, I'm officially hijacking this post at least for the purposes of this thread, and [livejournal.com profile] loveyouallwrong can come back later. :D Because mine is Ray Is Not Actually Graphing The History Of His Relationship With Fraser--That Would Be Pathetic, And Ray Is Not Pathetic--But If He Was Graphing It, Even Just In His Own Stressed-Out, Messed-Up Brain, It Might Look Something Like This (http://www.crocolanthus.com/graph.htm), and it is not only an awesome title but SO MUCH MORE, and yeah.

well, it can, but then like. the rampaging hordes would descend.

the problem with DS as a fandom was always the rampaging hordes.

see, I was gonna HELP, and then I went & looked & the DS stuff I have rec'd in my recs is all categorized under "darkfic" so you know, that's a loss. BAH I AM THWARTED IN MY HELPING.

I'm sure I have some on my old oral sex recs pages (http://www.dementia.org/~jacquez/writing/recs/oral_recs.html), though...I should dig through those & update everything.

YAY!!!!!! THIS POST MAKES ME VERY, VERY HAPPY, PEARL!!!!

(also. I would've maybe agree with you a little bit on the Ray/Ray thing like, oh, a month ago, but I may have slid in the Ray/Ray direction. Even though eveything is better with Fraser. Trufax.)

Ooh, awesome, thanks! Yeah, reccing stuff for a particular friend's taste is different than reccing just great stuff in general -- I'm not sure if it's easier or harder, but the challenges are different.

It's like you made a post using the tabs currently open in my browser! AMAZINGGGG. There must be something about spring that makes people go, "you know what I need? I need mounties getting sexxed. yes'm."

Also, god bless you for making a non-bandom post, I was starting to despair! DESPAIR I SAY. ;)
