For two and a half days, none of the browsers on my computer would work, even though there was no problem with the connection in any other way. It was incredibly frustrating, as you can imagine, but today fiddling around with google on the parents' computer seems to have solved it. Cross your fingers it doesn't go bad again!

Anyway. I have been watching a lot of Star Trek. I had watched The Enemy Within, Naked Time, The Man Trap and Balance of Terror (the first two were incredibly lolzy, the other two were slightly less interesting but had good bits). But I didn't think to start to makiing notes until after that. Here are my highly intelligent and coherent reaction notes!

Feel free to rec me what to watch next.

Have I mentioned that I really appreciate the fact that Spock's clothes fit so badly? Because I do.

"The Alternative Factor" has the most amazing special effects I have ever seen in my life, just so you know. There's spinning! And stars! And blurriness! And blue people fighting! And people leaning quickly to the right and left to show impact! It's great.

Now "Arena"! The entire first minute or so of this seems like McCoy, Kirk and Spock are all flirting with each other in some sort of weird code. It's weirding me out.

THIS EPISODE ALSO HAS AWESOME EFFECTS I SEE. Along with things going boom. I love it when things go boom. And Kirk doing the goofy crawling on his elbows and rolling around the ground to avoid getting shot at! :DDDD His face is now covered with artfully placed dirt smudges.

Watching Spock run is one of the most hilarious things I have seen. He is trying to do the same evasive maneuvering, I guess, but it just looks like he's falling a lot.

This episode has a good amount of Sulu so far. I appreciate that.

Warp factor eight, my goodness. Kirk is pissed, you guys.

And now some Godlike aliens (John Crichton would hate this). AND OMIGOD THE CAPTAIN OF THE ALIEN IS THE MOST AMAZING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. HE IS LIKE A GIANT LIZARD. OH GOD I LOVE THIS.

AND HOLY SHIT THIS FIGHT SCENE. It's like it's shot in slow motion! Kirk is just running around picking up sticks and rocks! Did they even choreograph this? The big stones made out of styrofoam!

I kind of love the fact that Kirk's first response to this situation is to give a dramatic soliloquy. Talk about loving the sound of his own voice.

I'm not sure, but I believe the Lizard alien is now chuckling evilly to himself. Plus he actually seems to be attempting to make tools instead of just whining to his tape recorder. If it didn't mean that Sulu and Spock and Uhura and everyone would die I would be rooting for him. Especially once he gets caught in that stupid rope and rock trap. Seriously, Kirk deserves to lose. This is the least menacing villain ever.

--Oh, man, now the god-like aliens are letting the crew watch Kirk as it happenings. It's nice how their real-time viewing has special close-ups and zooms and such. And the lizard alien has been listening to EVERY WORD Kirk said, ahahahah. He so deserves to lose here. Spock would have figured out what to do with sulfur and potassium nitrate and tubes ages ago.

Spock is watching Kirk and saying "Good! Good! He knows, Doctor. He has reasoned it out." I don't know why this is so hilarious, but it is. I think it's because it's the same way Spock talks about lesser lifeforms.

Spock: "I've frequently had my doubts." I LOVE WHEN HE IS BITCHY. :D

"Space Seed" next -- I think all I have to say about this one is a serious wow for the scene between Khan and Lieutenant McGivers, where he just totally crushes her spirit and she just breaks and puts herself completely under him. It's almost painful to watch, but really good. Well, that and the fact that listening them talk about the 1990s is amusing. And of course, I love every time Shatner has a big fight scene.

AMOK TIME, hell yeah. Kirk and Spock talking awkwardly about biology. "Biology?" "Biology." "What kind of biology?" "Vulcan biology." "The biology of ... vulcans." It manages to be both hilarious and yet really emotionally affecting at the same exact time.

Oh, Nurse Chapel. "My name is Christine." I feel so sorry for her, both in the scene is Spock's room and when she finds out he has a wife. And then Spock asks Kirk to be his best man equivalent, which is weirdly sweet. As is Spock coming out from his totally crazy state enough to talk about how Kirk is his frieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeend.

I didn't realize that the mindmelding/thoughtsharing thing was something Vulcans did for marriage, either, which makes me laugh more at the movie.

The old lady reminds me of Frau Blucher from Young Frankenstein. IDK. Spock's wife is really pretty.

Did I mention above I love all fight sequences? BECAUSE I DO. :DDDDD

OMIGOD SPOCK YELLING AND GRINNING AND GRABBING HIM WHEN HE FINDS OUT KIRK IS ALIVE. NAWWWWWWWW.

Next up, of course, is "Mirror, Mirror." I cannot express how highly I am anticipating this.

EVIL SPOCK WITH HIS EVIL GOATEE. I am not sure I understand why the landing party's clothes changed in going to the other universe, but that's okay. I also love the symbol/logo on the walls, of the sword through the earth. Hardcore! And evil Sulu has a fucking sweet scar going on. And evil Chekhov is being evil by assassinating Kirk! And McCoy is a doctor, not an engineer.

I fucking love the switch over to the real Enterprise, too. Making us think all "oh no! the evil people going wild!" And then Spock having it all totally under control and figured out already. And Shatner gets to be even crazier than usual as evil Kirk.

Uhura wielding the knife on Sulu = stars in my eyes.

I am not sure how evil Spock is dying from getting knocked on the head with a fake skull, either, but that's okay.

MINDMERGING :DDD And then Spock is letting them go and wants his captain back. And Kirk is convincing him to overturn the empire!

"Jim, I think I liked him with a beard better. It gave him character." I enjoy how McCoy gets to be the sarcastic one all the time.

And then Kirk hitting on Marlena is a perfect ending. Yay.

And you should watch "The Enterprise Incident" for Spock sexing up the Romulan Commander. And "Day of the Dove" for heartwarming Klingon rapproachment. And "City on the Edge of Forever" for general awesomeness. And "Devil In the Dark" for Kirk and Spock and McCoy and Scotty all being at the absolute top of their game and for the BEST ALIEN EVER.

The sexing of the Romulan Commander was the sexiest sexing in the entire series.

How much of that had to do with her and how much with him, I have no idea. But: SEXY.

I just watched it again last night. HE IS UNBEARABLY SEXY. EVEN THE CAMERAMAN THINKS HE IS SEXY. SRSLY, they do the Vaseline-lens soft-focus close-up JUST ON SPOCK'S HANDS. IT IS AWSOME.

I still haven't watched most of these, but tonight I watched 'Journey to Babel' and it had Spock's parents in it and Amanda did stuff besides [movie spoiler I'm not sure I should go around talking about even because I know you've seen it but maybe other people reading this entry haven't? IDK] and it was awesome. &show;

Here is the thing about Amanda in the movie: I totally believed in Spock's love and defensiveness of her, but at the same time, I was slightly stuck on lol winona ryder

I can't believe no-one's nominated "The Trouble with Tribbles" Or "Shore Leave"! Or "A Piece of the Action" (AKA "the one with the planet of the Chicago gangsters"). Ooh, or "Balance of Terror," which introduced the Romulans — an especially appropriate choice given the plot of the reboot.

I second "City on the Edge of Forever" and "Devil in the Dark."

I actually saw Balance of Terror already! My favorite part was Kirk and the Romulan commander bonding at the end.

there was one review of a trek movie -- not the new one -- which contained a line about Spock & McCoy fighting over Kirk "like a pair of aging queens".

then there was a review of the new movie which talked about a love triangle with Kirk, Spock, and the "sexually ambiguous" McCoy.

I was like, well, that is PRACTICALLY TRADITION at this point.

As near as I can tell, Vulcans do it for a very wide variety of reasons! (See icon!) The very first mindmeld in TOS is actually *really* intense and worth watching. It's in "Dagger of the Mind", which also contains some HIGHLARIOUS over-emoting by Kirk.
