You know, you spend so much time laughing at and with Shatner that it's always a little weird when you look at him and suddenly realize that Jesus Christ, he was a legitimate hottie. There are a couple of times when Kirk actually makes me catch my breath. I don't know exactly why that happens so suddenly when I'll go for ages watching him without the same realization, but it does.

You know how there's a thing where people aren't attractive as such, except that there's like this contagious delusion that they are? Like, the buzz around them, the reputation, the weight of history or status or something?

William Shatner is like that in reverse. There's so much cultural association that goes with William Shatner, that it's genuinely hard to see past that to the fact that he genuinely was pretty damn hot.
