This short interview with the Ways is, by the far, the most delightful thing I have watched in a long, long time.

A quote, from Mary Roach's Packing for Mars, p. 57:

I once met a man who told me that after landing in Christchurch, New Zealand, after a winter at the South Pole research station, he and his companions spent a couple days just wandering around staring in awe at flowers and trees. At one point, one of them spotted a woman pushing a stroller. "A baby!" he shouted, and they all rushed across the street to see. The woman turned the stroller and ran.

This link is to a short quote from an essay on Beatrice and Dante, but you should go read it. It's worth it.

I have been really slow and lazy about my Fringe watching - I was enjoying the beginning of season 2, but it wasn't grabbing me in any particular way that meant I had to watch more, now, please. But now I am at the second half of the season and it is a different story. I enjoyed "Johari Window" and "What Lies Below" as solid episodes, and then "The Bishop Revival" was kind of fun - but now I just finished "Jacksonville" and "Peter" and holy crap, what a 1-2 punch that was. So, yes! I have reached the MORE NOW MORE phase at last, I suspect.

This picture makes me happy in my pants soul. I need to rewatch the movie. And then all of the original series. SHATNER AND NIMOY. I LOVE THOSE BITCHES SO MUCH. *single tear*

Seriously, if you have not heard me drunkenly talk about William shatner, you have not seen the true depths of my earnestness.

that interview with the Ways is just KILLING ME. I can't stop watching it. They are SO COMFORTABLE and SO HAPPY and just - BOYS. BROTHERS. NERDS. HEARTS IN MY EYES.

I really have to pick up that Mary Roach book.

I've been meaning to get that Mary Roach book! The book I am currently reading just finished a section in Antarctica, too! I'd go so nuts there.

Man, I have been obsessed with Antarctica for years! It really is one of the tragedies of my life that I know I would never pass the psychological or physical requirements to go there, because it is my DREAM.

Matt's great-uncle was stationed there in WWII ... it's too bad he passed away because I would ask for SO MANY STORIES.

Ooooh, that is really cool!

I wrote a tiny snippet once of Antarctica AU! Partly because I was too lazy to write the big whole story it would need, but also because the boys are actually way too crazy to survive down there. Especially since the main entertainment is drinking heavily. But yeah, I have read a LOT about the Ice.

WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE CAUGHT UP.

Last night, I was actually shouting at the screen at the top of my lungs, actually, LITERALLY shouting. My roommate has never been so amused by me. Also now she wants to watch the show.

Yeah, I keep seeing the bits outside of cut tags from people this season, and it is ALL excited and "holy shit" and "SHOOOOOOW". I am pretty stoked!
