1. What book is in your bathroom?
Dude. No book of mine is going into the dorm bathrooms. Becuase ... ew. No.

2. What book is in your purse/backpack?
The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. [livejournal.com profile] carmarthen talking about the series last week made me itch to reread.

3. What book is on your bedside table?
Cousin Kate by Georgette Heyer is there right now, but I finished it off a little bit ago. I need to go down to the library and pick up more.

4. What was the last book you lent someone?
The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman.

5. What was the last book you lent out that someone brought back to you?
Night Watch by Terry Pratchett. Mmm, Vimes...

6. What book do you have loaner copies of, solely for the purpose of foisting it on unsuspecting friends and relatives?
Dude. I'm poor. If I had money to buy books, I would be buying more for *me*, not for others.

But the ones that get pimped out most are probably Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett ([livejournal.com profile] ediebeedie, you have my only copy!), Doomsday Book and To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis, and Ex Libris by Anne Fadiman.

It's only recently that I've been finding other fannish types who enjoy Georgette Heyer. She was a guilty pleasure of mine for a long time -- I'd always turned up my nose at hysterical romance as a genre until a librarian whose taste I respect forced me to read The Grand Sophy. I was hooked. It took almost a year for me to locate all of them, but I did read them all. Sophy is still a favorite, as well as Faro's Daughter, Cotillion and An Infamous Army, and of course the trilogy These Old Shades, Black Sheep and Devil's Cub... Ack. Maybe I need to go back and re-read some of these! It's been a while, and the fact that I find it hard to limit my 'favorites' to just a few...high time I gave them another look!

Thanks for the nudge...

This is actually the first of hers I've read; I've mainly started reading her because of various recs I've seen all around. I'm enjoying, so far.
