schmerica: (cute and fluffy)

All classes at my school tomorrow are cancelled for a teach-in. While I don't necessarily agree that our educations should be put on hold for this (but then, I tend towards thinking academics and intellectual pursuits are not only important, but important on their own), it does seem like the people putting it together have done really good work in a quite short time, and I'm sure it will be successful. I will probably not go -- none of the topics interest me, and further, there is almost no event I have ever been to at SRC with a questions or debate format where I didn't want to stab some or other of my fellow students for being annoying, pretentious, arrogant fucks. So I will probably spend tomorrow catching up on my sleep, and hopefully getting lots of homework done. And maybe finishing my moderation statement, if I don't get it done tonight.

I could even get writing done, theoretically, but ... eh. Not going to happen.

I don't think it's a questions or debate format.

Ah, okay. From what I heard, I thought it was set up as a discussion type thing.

I believe the debate is next week.

I hope it's not a discussion-type thing....

Due to catching up from this weekend, though, I'll probably only go to David's, which is pretty sure to remain fairly calm. I hope. And David will smack down annoying people, anyway.

I apparently get confused quite easily, especially when I hear more eharsay than actual facts. Bad Erica.

Well, it is SRC...everything is hearsay until proven otherwise. And official sources have been rather vague.

Awww. I'm sorry, Emma! I just don't like going to things that I know are going to make me frustrated or annoyed, especially when I have useful things I could be doing.

Much agreed (although I withhold judgment on the success).

there is almost no event I have ever been to at SRC with a questions or debate format where I didn't want to stab some or other of my fellow students for being annoying, pretentious, arrogant fucks.

I also fear this, although it's not debatey, and I suspect it will be mostly 'providing background-y.'

Bleah. I probably will sleep and do homework, though, aside from David's bit, since I am half-dead, behind on work, and was instructed by one of the counsellors to sleep this week. Anyone who tells me not to sleep in at this point will probably get glared at.
