schmerica: (dirty wrongness)

Tonight's excitement consisted of watching "Strangers on a Train" with [livejournal.com profile] minstrelia, [livejournal.com profile] welvilly, and [livejournal.com profile] scarletbeg0nia. I don't really have much to say about it, other than: Maaaaaan. That was one gay movie. In the way that forces me to use my 'dirty wrongness' icon.

Also, I have been doing dailyporn at journalfen for nine days now, and I have managed five entries (firefly femslash, firefly het, jessica indieverse Clex, girl!clark Clex, and his dark materials het, all here). I think over half the time is a good ratio. Especially when I've been sick. *snicker*

Plans for this weekend:

+ Sleep

+ Laundry (there's a pile threatening to take over my room)

+ Do lots of homework and try to make up for everything I missed this week

+ Maybe write some Firefly fic (I find it very odd to remember that I only actually have one story written in this fandom. I forget that the Simon/River hasn't actually been posted and forgotten, for one thing, and for another, there's just the talking and discussing it so much with people that it feels like I've done more than I have)

+ And possibly cleaning. But probably not.

See, the trick is, first of all, to be able to go into the pile and pick out the important stuff. Like, all the underwear, favorite jeans and two decent tops. Enough for one load. Repeat as necessary for 1 week untill you realize you've worn the same jeans three times in one week. Bite the bullet and load the laundry bag, then become a big fat scardey cat of the laundry in pitch black basement, and pledge to get all the way throught the pile that obscures the floor between the door and your bed.

See, I know how to manage to keep it somewhat in control -- so it doesn't actually grow, but merely keep the same threatening size. I'm hoping to actually defeat it utterly this weekend, though.

Well, may the gods be with you. I'm trying for that too this weekend. And it is a lovely feeling to have every piece of clothing you own clean and folded and put away. I think I did that once back in '96.

Patricia Highsmith is an interesting writer, and her stuff is full of gay subtext -- check out the Ripley books! She's also fascinated by squicky things and people's reaction to them. If you like 'Strangers' you might want to look into some of her other writings.
