The last few days have been quite uneventful, but the scarcity of livejournal posts probably has less to do with that than with my relatively small amount of computer time. This lack is most pressing in the area of AIM. I've talked to [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 on and off, and [livejournal.com profile] dammitcarl for a couple of minutes the other day, but otherwise I haven't really talked with anyone. Very strange.

What I have been doing instead of constant chat: sleeping, baby-sitting, and reading, mostly. I'm not sure if my room and bed are responsible or if it's just general exhaustian, but I've been sleeping like the dickens. That and reading ([livejournal.com profile] shinybookses) were on my list of goals for the summer, but the baby-sitting (unpaid, no less!) came unexpectedly. The baby (19 months) is adorable, at any rate.

The big jobhunt is Thursday. I dread it. Last year, I went through the entire thing, and it was utterly horrific, and I ended up unemployed anyway. And man, do I need money.

On a segue from money talk... At the moment, I can't really see anyway I'm getting back to SRC. The financial aid package they sent calls for a contribution from my parents which is many times over anything they could afford. I'm not thinking about it too much, though.

The other main item on my list of goals, by the way, had been writing, but that hasn't been going anywhere, unfortunately. It doesn't help that I still haven't seen the last three or four episodes of the season for both Everwood and Smallville. I mean, really!

This reminds me that I promised [livejournal.com profile] grrleloquence that I would write her an *Nsync story for her birthday. Now, her birthday isn't for three months or so, but still. That's something to think about and worry over. Hmm.

I shall now return to wasting my time with the fun over at the Annotated Pratchett File. Mmm, Discworld. You know, I wish I had saved my Carrot-Clark icon when I changed icons. How foolhardy of me.

I was indeed! Your organization and paying-attention skills (not to mention icon-making, natch) skills are obviously much superior to mine.

Obviously, this is a sign to chopchop on whatever you're working on.

I hate to be a broken record on this, but: if you haven't already, CONTACT THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE. Tell them what you just told us, and ask if there is any sort of appeals process for your aid to be recalculated. Do it SOON -- if they have a reserve for such cases, it will get spent.

You may not get all the help you need, but at least you would know you'd done what you could. And the one time I had to do this at my own undergrad liberal arts school, I did get some extra aid out of it. OK? OK.

I know! We *are* working on it. My parents have called the financial aid office at least three times since we got home, I think. Once she got the office while the person she needed to talk to was at lunch, and the other times she left messages, but they haven't called back. So, yes. We'll be trying again.

Yay!

I don't mean to be a pain. But I have seen people not follow up on this stuff because they don't think they can, or they're scared, or whatever, so I just wanted to make sure you knew what your options were.

Also, if you have Kazaa/Kazaa Lite, you must immediately search for Rhett Miller's "Erica." (If you do not, you must tell me, and I will put it online for you.) I think I'm one of the people you hear laughing in better-quality bootleg of that show, and I apologize for drowning him out.

Mm, reading. Indeed, we are never on AIM at the same time.

And argh. *thinks good thoughts for you*

The Annotated Pratchett File is a thing of beauty.

woo! good thoughts!

It is. I just wish it was more recent. I need my annotations for Fifth Elephant! And The Truth! And Thief of Time! And Night Watch!

My life is incomplete, still.

My sister is reading Good Omens right now, so I showed the site to her. I can't tell if she's impressed or not. She liked hte Soul Music ones, I think. (Did I mention that my mother had bought me a new copy of Good Omens at the thrift store while I was away? I did a little jig when I found out.)

Clark is frowning a little as he reads, but Lex waits until Clark turns the page to interrupt.

"You don't think it's a good idea?" Clark looks up.

"It's a nice, I mean, it's a nice thing to do. But the conditions on the scholarship.... Must be interested in all things Lex Luthor? Must think Lex Luthor is sexy? They're a little odd."

Clark wets the tip of his finger and turns another page.

"Must be studying French, must have a deep appreciation of the classics, must be fond of soda? What kind of conditions are these?"

Lex grins and shrugs.

"I just wrote what moved me, Clark. I especially like the part about the boybands."

"Well, it's your money."

"No, that's the best part, it's Lionel's."

Lex's grin widens.

"Isn't it a beautiful day?"
