why friended meme
7/6/03 12:41a. This is secretly a GIP (secretly because of the, you know, content later down). Note the pretty icon I got from
liviapenn. She still has lots of porny sexy ones up, I believe.
b. I saw X2 again yesterday, and eeeeeee! Still with the overwhelming love, man. So much. So *much*. Also, may have reawakened my story ideas from the first one. Time will tell.
c. I have interview questions from
taraljc and
merryish; I'll try to do them the next day or two.
d. I have (finally) finished the "why I friended you" meme. Much thanks to
fox1013, who helped me get access to the file when my computer went screwy and wouldn't let me see the twenty something blurbs I had completed.
afrai: I found you through Mel mentioning you constantly in her livejournal, and (since I don't trust Mel's taste all that much) I was pleasantly surprised to find your very cool writing. I'm continually surprised anew by just how witty and funny you are, even in your non-fic entries.
bexless: Beeeeex! I added you originally because I liked your Smallville stories. Your entries make my day frequently, because you're crazy and fun and goofy, and make me want to do little jigs all the time. *loves on you*
blunaris: You've been on my friends list for so long I can't remember you not there. You make gorgeous art, and pretty icons, and your fannish talk (and nonfannish -- Chuck Taylors and Bruce Springsteen!) is lots of fun.
bonibaru: You weren't on my friends list for awhile, and then one day I realized that I was checking your livejournal all the time, anyway, because there was always something interesting going on, and I had no idea why you weren't on already.
carmarthen: Because I know you and because I like you and because I think you're cool and quirky and smart
celli: I knew you from chat with jenn and co., where you were goofy and fun; your journal's not as much fun as your AIM, but that'd be almost possible. Plus, you have neat writing going on (I still need to feedback you for Five Ways).
corinna_5: I have you on my friends list because you post awesome fic, and you have neat-o icons (sock puppet!), and you leave cool comments in my journal, and you like Old 97s.
dine: I added you when I was adding various Portland slashers (because, hey, almost local), and I kept it because it's interesting and friendly. Plus, sparkly valentines!
ediebeedie: Because I adore you beyond all reason, and it's the main way we can keep in touch now that we don't see each other every minute of the day.
fox1013: I was a devoted lurker on Mighty Big TV, you know, so in a (really creepy) way it's like I've vaguely known who you are for three or four years now. But you're not just on my friends list because I recognized you from a once cool site; you're there you kick ass. You've become one of my best friends, and you're funny and smart and brilliant and wacky beyond belief. If I quit LJ cold turkey, yours would be one of the journals I'd sneak back and read anyway. Me + Fox = BFF.
jennyo: We don't overlap fandoms, but even if I'm not involved, I still find Buffy and Angel interesting, and I like your speculation, your commentaries and essays, and your stories. Plus, the tales of graduate school are scary yet compelling.
jess79: The first thing that comes to mind when I think of your journal is how *funny* it is. Your episode commentaries on SV, Buffy and Angel are always entertaining, and your random entries often make me giggle, too. And then there's the gorgeous icons you put up every once in a while, as well as the occasional academic stuff.
lacorneille: Man, I've been reading you longer than practically anybody else on my friends list. You're Mel, the girl who went from crazy internet person who seemingly shared all my random quirks, to Mel, one of my best real friends in the world. I *have* to read your journal and keep up on Mel-ness, and have stupid little comment strings in your comment section.
ladyvyola: I actually can't remember you *not* being on my friends list, and you've always been interesting and entertaining, so, you know. That list status isn't likely to change.
linabean: It's the monkey crack, really. I've told you before that you're both one of the funniest and one of the strangest people I've ever known, and that comes out in your lj. Plus, I like your journal a lot because you post lots of funny chat transcripts and big pieces of story.
minstrelia: Isn't there a law that you *have* to friend the people you browbeat into journals? I'm pretty sure. Also, you mentioned me a lot. At any rate, now I need to keep up on important Cait news, and what better way, since I'm not going to see you everyday?
mosca: I had recognized your name from a lovely email from quite a few months ago, which led me to check out your journal, which was almost new, I think. Your journal is always interesting, and different from most of the others on my list, and I like hearing about your fandoms that I know nothing about. (Plus, hey, you say nice things about my writing!)
musesfool: Your journal's fun, man. All the huge meta entries where the discussion live, and the goofy pop culture stuff, and then, of course, your journal's where to go to find out what's the latest meme going around. Besides, where else would I learn the ways of true bitchhood?
nestra: I knew you mostly from Polyamorous Recs (which kick ass, by the way), and I'd also followed your blog off and on. And then you friended me, and I went, "ooh! Hey! She's cool!"
notemily: Well, you went to my school, and you friended me first, and I knew who you were. And I've never taken you off for those reasons, but also because I think you're nifty keen, and your journal's always interesting and cool.
rliz: You're another person whose name I recognized from feedback from a long while ago, and went to check out from that. Your journal is different than anybody else's on my friends list, and you have all these fascinating interests I know nothing about: poetry, and performance art, and postmodernism. This leads me to think of you as cool and mysterious (and perhaps somewhat intimidating).
saturn939: You're on my friends list because we went to school together, and I knew you in real life, and you're funny and sweet and ... well, Dejio. Plus, you post pictures of other people I know.
slodwick: Man, slod, you make such pretty, pretty things. Your journal makes me in awe of your talents -- and then it turns around and makes me giggle, makes me drool, makes me in a just a cheerful good mood from your neatness.
taraljc: You write my very favoritest Firefly stories ever, and you write pretty pretty icons, and you're smart as a whip and cool as a cucumber. Tara = megacool goodness.
tstar78: Well ... you're Caro! Of *course* you're on my list. You're weird and sweet, surreptitiously responsible for tons of my favorite stories through your poking of authors, and I don't even how many hours we've spent pleasantly goofing off in chat.
witchqueen: You sent me lovely feedback very early on, which I still I still remember. Your journal's this cool mix of the thoughtful essay type of fannishness and the fun and less serious, all in this fascinating range of fandoms (where else would I learn about Fastlane?). Plus, you know, you went to my school!
b. I saw X2 again yesterday, and eeeeeee! Still with the overwhelming love, man. So much. So *much*. Also, may have reawakened my story ideas from the first one. Time will tell.

7/6/03 13:23 (UTC)I've thought for a while, actually, that you'd be very good at writing poetry.

7/6/03 15:26 (UTC)Poetry is my secret nemesis. I feel as though I *should* like poetry, but instead, it is the one form of literature that leaves me feeling like a big befuddled philistine.

9/6/03 23:53 (UTC)thanks for the nice response - I often wonder just why folks read my LJ, cool to have a positive answer to that insecure quibble in my head
