First thing:
"The state will not be treating these as valid marriages," Neely said. "They will simply be registered marriages."
From the article in this morning's Oregonian, about the latest court ruling about the same-sex marriages from March and April. Really, the hell?
Second thing:
Reading update = Gaudy Night by Dorothy Sayers, How to Lie With Statistics by Darrell Huff, Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon, The Game by Laurie R. King, and Blue Angel by Francine Prose. I enjoyed all of them in varying degrees -- the Sayers and the Huff were rereads -- but I was kind of disappointed by the latest Mary Russell; it didn't seem as good as the others in the series I've read.
Anyway, am now onto the Odyssey (Fagles translation, for those of you who care). I've read bits and pieces of the Odyssey at various times, and of course I know the story, but I've never gone all the through it, so I'm looking forward to that.
Third thing:
In #discourse last night, the conversation somehow drifted (as it does) over to
brooklinegirl and
estrella30 and their many, many fetishes. For some reason, I brought up to BLG the existance of a file on my computer with the following items neatly listed:
( all the Rays here refer to RayK )
The file is, naturally, called "buttons".
Heh, that's actually kind of embarrassing all listed out like that. At least I can comfort with the knowledge that whatever I have there, estrella and BLG are much, much easier.
Fourth thing:
sprkid made me this icon! And it is pretty! Yay!
ETA: Fifth thing: God, my parents apparently have eighty million chores for me to do today. Boo. Feel free to leave me odd comments or emails to entertain me when I get my brief computer checks.
