Okay, so I'm a huge baby; the field trip was much, much better than I expected it to be. The weather was very very nice, the outdoors were very very pretty without encroaching upon me to enjoy its naturey goodness, and I had a room to myself and a surprisingly comfy bed. And there was an adorable baby along! And surprisingly nice vans!

If I had had a friend along, I probably would have really enjoyed it, I think. Well, that and if there were any damn CLOCKS anywhere. Low levels of organization and confusion of where she's supposed to be = stressed Erica.

(I also did get ill at one point, but it was one of the "good" kind of migraines -- that is, it came on really fast out of absolutely nowhere [so that one minute I'm fine, the next I'm really overheated, and the *next* minute I'm so dizzy and disoriented I can't stand and can't hear over the buzz in my ears] but as soon as I'd thrown up, I felt absolutely peachy again. I hope this doesn't mean the migraines are coming back, though, as I *liked* being able to say I hadn't had one in five years.)

I did get a little tiny bit of writing done (two of the requests), so I'll try to type those up later tonight after I get caught up on lj and email and maybe take a shower.

*smooches internet* I missed you! Don't ever change!

Hmm, the stupid ten dollars worth of soup I bought at Safeway during my crazy shopping trip actually turned out to be pretty good. Both of them turned out to be very filling, pleasantly spicy and flavored, and just good eating. One was a chicken tortilla soup, and the other a crab and corn chowder. The latter, especially, I enjoyed. They were still way too expensive, but I might still get it again once in a great while.

Tonight I remembered to cook the chicken I bought last week. I used some of my store bought pesto and thinned it with more olive oil, and then broiled the cutlets with that. I ate one of the cutlets with my dinner, and it was delicious -- apparently I got the timing just right for once. There were four more that I put away, to eat cold or slice up for wraps. I also made a rice pilaf with slow-cooked onions, which is one of my favorite dependable recipes from How to Cook Everything, and that turned out great, too. And even more leftovers there! Mmmmm.

Tonight is very good for my cooking self-esteem, apparently.
