Hmmm. This is the somewhat strange result of two completely seperate conversations had earlier this week with [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl and [livejournal.com profile] dsudis, which somehow merged together in my brain to form this. Dira is the one who encouraged the idea, though, so I think she gets the blame.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] lynnmonster for beta.

Query for Smallville fandom folks with better memories than me: I realize that SV had so many weird pet peeves and rants it's hard to keep them all straight, so at the point this far away from all of them, I may simply be making stuff up. Am I imagining somebody's rant about certain dialogue formations? I seem to remember somebody on my friends list at one point responding to it at one point to explain that, no, all of the following ways of doing dialogue are technically correct--

1. "Hi," said Pearl-o.

2. Fox nodded. "Isn't that cool?"

3. "Sure." Nifra did some more jumping jacks. "I'm a spaz!"

4. "Oh my god," said Lyra, pushing her way to the front of the line. "What on god's green earth?"

So, am I on crack? Did I just take the weird present/past tense fights and let my mind decide the fandom was completely insane, or does my brain has some basis in reality for this?

Diana Wynne Jones has a new book coming out next month! And it involves Christopher Chant and Millie!

I'm sorry, but you are all fired. I shall begin looking for your replacements immediately.

Okay, the amount of squee on my flist has finally reached the overflowing point where I am now mightily intrigued by all this House talk. Further, it has reached the point where I have started reading fic by various beloved authors.

On the other hand, the distance between "mightily intrigued" and "obsessed enough to go to the huge amount of effort and work it would take to view episodes when I have no television and am not able to use Bit Torrent" is actually pretty huge. So I'm thinking it doesn't really matter.

In other news: TWO WEEKS TILL [livejournal.com profile] fox1013/[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o FEST! This concludes your squee for the day.

So, I sat down this evening and watched the first three aired episodes of House in a big rush. Which -- okay, three things.

a) Dude, Bobbi Bernstein! Nobody told me she was on it!

b) Nor did anybody warn me about the cutting and the spurting blood and the limb chopping and the huge needles in the eyes. Eeeeeeep. You would think the fact that this is a medical show would have prepared me, but I am wimpy, and nothing prepares you for HUGE NEEDLES THROUGH THE EYE.

c) Goddammit, I'm totally digging this. Boo. Now I have to attempt to find some way of actually procuring more episodes. *eyes [livejournal.com profile] speshope thoughtfully*

ETA: This actually makes four things, but whatever, I forgot to mention it earlier -- the other thing I was not forewarned about is the fact that, so far, Wilson is weirdly reminiscient of Simon Tam to me. It's kind of freaking me out.
