the fifth of july isn't particularly special

Thank you very much to my kind anonymous LJ Fairy! This is the second time in a month it's happened, and so I am overflowing with love to complete strangers.

I am tempted to follow the lead of others on my friends list and offer up drabble or short bits, but I will restrain myself, as I'm pretty sure I would never finish them. And that would just be embarrassing.

I didn't get a chance to wish everybody (well, the Americans among you, at least) a Happy Independence Day yesterday, as I was busy working down at the fair. From 4.30 to 11.30, I was in my dorky little uniform and change apron at the dime pitch game booth down at the county fairgrounds. I made change. Lots and lots of change. Also, fetched the glass prizes for everybody who won something.

Man, did my feet ache at the end. I had one fifteen minute break, but otherwise I was standing the entire time.

I'm on call today, but if they haven't called by now, I don't think they will. And tomorrow I'm going back in.

Friday -- and thus the paycheck -- can't come soon enough.

I am shamed for having forgotten such an important holiday.

And the job wasn't too sucky, really. It's amazing how much the prospect of the paycheck makes up for.
