My actor-character associations seem to be rather stronger with Sports Night than with most other shows. Apparently, none of them can escape the "It's [character name]!" even for the space of another movie or show.

You can imagine the sort of hijinks this results in. Sally Sasser is Ephram's dead mommy! Isaac is really a wise old monkey dude! Danny is a shady betraying cop who commits suicide!

This happens with any show, of course, but it's strongest with them, for some reason. Crazy, man.

I find this hard with almost all my fannish TV actors. For some reason, it doesn't happen the same way with movie actors, so that Ewan McGregor is Ewan, not Obi-Wan, but TV actors? It's the characters, not the actors, for me. So far I've been lucky, and none of my favorite fannish characters have moved on to equally compelling roles in other shows. I don't know what would happen then -- although it did take me a while to adjust to Ephram's mom.

Anyway, for me I think it's part of my strong disconnect between reality and fantasy; I fall for the characters, not the actors, and will seldom follow an actor just because he's played a character I like.

See, it's usually there a little bit for me with all the fannish TV people, but it's worse somehow with the SN people. I mean, when I was watching Sorority Boys I went "hee, lex!" every once in a while, but I didn't have the whole "You cannot fool me! You make *say* you're this person, but I know your secret sports broadcasting identity. Hah!" thing going on.

...and Casey is a reluctant funeral director with a gay brother and an irritating angsty teen sister who hallucinates that he's talking to his dead father!

Dude, you really should watch Six Feet Under sometime.

*sniffle* You know, rubbing in my lack of cable and/or episode downloading capabilities isn't particularly kind of you.

Hey, I don't have cable or episode-downloading abilities, either. I watched most of S1 from the library. Have you checked your library system? (Which are you, anyway? Lake Oswego?)

Hey, I heart Lake Oswego -- they have all sorts of weird stuff that Washington and Multnomah don't.

Anyhow, Washington County *definitely* has S1 of SFU on DVD, as does Multonomah. So you have no more excuse!

(Of course, you may have to wait a while to get it -- I still haven't seen the last couple eps because the DVD didn't come in before I left.)

Huh. I wonder why I messed that up like that.

And dude, the monkey icon would have been overkill, no? Also, I thought I wasn't using this one enough lately. It needs love, too.
